  1. 11. A Framework for Fatigue Analysis of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer Structures

    Författare :Sara Eliasson; Zuheir Barsoum; Per Wennhage; Kim Branner; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Heavy-duty vehicles; Fatigue; Carbon fiber reinforced polymer; Multi-scale modeling; Probabilistic modeling; Tunga fordon; Utmattning; Kolfiberkomposit; Probabilistisk modellering; Farkostteknik; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Our society depends on functional road communication, and Heavy Duty Vehicles (HDVs) offer convenient and limitless possibilities of transport and services. However, HDVs account for a quarter of the European Union's CO2 road emissions. There is a substantial need to reduce the CO2 emissions of HDVs to ensure a low negative environmental impact. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Biochemical modification of wood components

    Författare :Peter Josefsson; Lars Wågberg; Mark Rutland; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The degradation of cellulose found in wood is one of the most important degradation processes for the carbon flux on earth. The degradation is performed by microorganisms that typically use enzymes. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on studies of nano-scale materials in electronic packaging applications with respect to following aspects: surface analysis of nano-scale oxide of lead-free solder particles, and thermal performance and mechanical property studies of nano-scale fiber and metal composite-based thermal interface materials. The composition and thickness of the solder oxide have a direct impact on the quality of interconnects and the reliability of a packaged system. LÄS MER

  4. 14. The Use of Lignin Derivatives to Improve Selected Paper Properties

    Författare :Stefan Antonsson; Mikael E. Lindström; Gunnar Henriksson; Mats Johansson; Docent Roland Agnemo Tek. Dr. Harald Brelid; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; kraft lignin; black liquor; cross-flow filtration; lignin derivative; kraftliner; oxidative coupling; laccase; manganese; linseed oil; mechano-sorptive creep; kraftlignin; svartlut; tvärsflödesfiltrering; ligninderivat; kraftliner; oxidativ koppling; lackas; mangan; linolja; mekanosorptivt kryp; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Ved består huvudsakligen av tre typer av polymerer, cellulosa, hemicellulosa och lignin. Lignin bildas i naturen genom enzymatiskt initierad oxidativ koppling av tre olika typer av fenylpropan-enheter. Dessa bygger genom olika kol-kol- och kol-syre-bindningar upp en amorf tredimensionell polymer. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Carbon-graphite fiber-reinforced polymers for implant suprastructures

    Författare :Susanna Segerström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Implant prostheses; Matrix; MMA; PMMA nanoparticles; Copolymer; Surface treatment; Size; Adhesion; SEM; Mechanical properties; Physicochemical properties.;

    Sammanfattning : Carbon-graphite fiber-reinforced polymers (CGFR) can be used as the core material for implant-retained prostheses as an alternative to metal frameworks. The purpose was to formulate and develop carbon-graphite fiber-reinforced polymers intended for implant suprastructures and to determine physicochemical, mechanical properties and possible cytotoxic effects.
