  1. 1. Epiphytic lichen responses to nitrogen deposition

    Författare :Otilia Johansson; Kristin Palmqvist; Johan Olofsson; Annika Nordin; Lars E Ericson; Peter Crittenden; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lichens; air pollution; nitrogen deposition; phosphorus; growth; chlorophyll a; boreal forest; field experiment; irrigation; carbon based secondary compounds; Lavar; luftföroreningar; alg; svamp; kväve; fosfor; skog; Terrestrial ecology; Terrestrisk ekologi; ekologisk botanik; Ecological Botany;

    Sammanfattning : Nitrogen (N) deposition has increased globally over the last 150 years and further increase is predicted for the future. Nitrogen is an important nutrient for lichens, involved in many processes in both photobiont and mycobiont.  However, N can be a stressor, causing many lichens and lichen communities to disappear with increased deposition. 2. 2. Insights into the Molecular Mechanisms of Litter Decomposition and Assimilation of Nitrogen by Ectomycorrhizal Fungi

    Författare :Firoz Shah; MEMEG; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ectomycorrhizal fungi; Paxillus involutus; organic matter degradation; Fenton chemistry; carbon availability; N assimilation; C and N cycling; protein degradation pathway; secondary metabolites;

    Sammanfattning : Ectomycorrhizae is the dominant type of mycorrhiza found in association with tree roots in boreal and northern temperate forests. In this symbiosis, the fungal partner derives energy from photosynthates provided by the host trees and in return delivers soil-derived nutrients such as nitrogen (N). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Secondary metabolites from the saprotrophic fungus Granulobasidium vellereum

    Författare :Christina Nord; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The production of secondary metabolites by the saprotrophic fungus Granulobasidium vellereum was investigated. G. vellereum is a wood decomposing basidiomycete fungus that arrives at dead trunks of fallen hard wood trees at a later stage of the decomposition process and hence need to outcompete the organisms already colonizing the site. 4. 4. Carbonaceous Aerosol in Europe - out of the woods and into the blue?

    Författare :Jan Robert Bergström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; organic aerosol; elemental carbon; chemical transport modelling; residential wood combustion; biotic stress induced emissions; source apportionment; EMEP MSC-W model;

    Sammanfattning : Particulate matter (PM) in the atmosphere influences weather and climate and may have important health impacts. Regional scale chemical transport modelling aims to describe the composition of particulate matter, to track different sources, estimate their relative importance, and to give realistic predictions of responses to changes in emissions and atmospheric conditions. 5. 5. Application of Laser-based Diagnostics to a Prototype Gas Turbine Burner at Selected Pressures

    Författare :Ronald Whiddon; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; OH; Laser Diagnostics; Elevated Pressure; Syngas; DLE; NOx; Combustion; Gas Turbine; PIV; PLIF; Pilot; SGT-750; Fysicumarkivet A:2014:Whiddon;

    Sammanfattning : The matured laser-diagnostic techniques of planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) and particle image velocimetry (PIV) were applied to a prototype gas turbine burner operating on various fuels. The work was performed to provide verification of computational fluid dynamic (CFD) models of the combustion of atypical fuels in a gas turbine combustor. LÄS MER
