  1. 1. Clinical and Biochemical Features of Adult Diabetes Mellitus in Sudan

    Författare :Moawia Abdelgadir; Christian Berne; Anders Karlsson; Per-Eric Lins; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medicine; diabetes mellitus; leptin; gestational diabetes mellitus; pregnancy; perinatal morbidity and mortality; carbohydrate rich-meals; self-monitoring; quality of life; sense of coherence; lower limb amputation; Sudan; Medicin;

    Sammanfattning : The high prevalence of diabetes mellitus among the Sudanese population is linked to obesity, poor glycaemic control and a high rate of complications. This study investigated 1/ Leptin hormone and its correlations with different biochemical characteristics in Sudanese diabetic subjects, 2/ The impact of glycaemic control on pregnancy outcome in pregnancies with diabetes, 3/ The glycaemic response to Sudanese traditional carbohydrate foods, 4/ The influence of glucose self-monitoring on the glycaemic control among this population, 5/ The health related quality of life in Sudanese subjects with diabetes-related lower limb amputation. 2. 2. Food-related gastrointestinal symptoms, nutrient intake and dietary interventions in patients with irritable bowel syndrome

    Författare :Lena Böhn; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; irritable bowel syndrome; gastrointestinal symptoms; diet;

    Sammanfattning : Food is a recurrent problem in irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and it is common to exclude foods, which could lead to a reduced nutrient intake. Perceived food intolerance is very common in IBS, but if specific or more generalized food intolerance is the problem is unknown. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Glycerol kinase deficiency. Clinical, biochemical, and genetic aspects

    Författare :Christina Hellerud; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :contiguous gene syndrome; diagnose; exercise; fasting; glucose deficit; glycerol; glycerol kinase deficiency; metabolism; molecular modelling; mRNA analysis; mutation; natural history; prognosis; splice-junction analysis; treatment; triglycerides;

    Sammanfattning : Glycerol kinase deficiency (GKD, MIM 307030) is an X-linked recessive inborn error of metabolism occurring isolated or in an Xp contiguous gene syndrome with adrenal hypoplasia and/or Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The gene syndrome is due to deletions in the p21 region on the X chromosome. LÄS MER
