  3. 3. Probing and elucidating the dynamics of virus-membrane interaction via plasma membrane mimics

    Författare :Konrad Thorsteinsson; Marta Bally; Hudson Pace; Gisa Gerold; Susan Daniel; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plasma membrane; supported lipid bilayer; binding kinetics; equilibrium fluctuation analysis; TIRF; FRET; norovirus; HSV; SARS-CoV-2; histo-blood group antigens; ApoE; heparan sulfate; mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Virus infection is initiated by the attachment of a virion to a susceptible cell’s plasma membrane, in a highly dynamic and well-orchestrated process that encompasses various steps and engages numerous viral and cellular factors. These dynamic steps may include initial non-specific binding to ubiquitous cell-membrane ligands, diffusion across the membrane to a suitable entry site and virus engagement with various receptors and co-receptors on the cell surface. 4. 4. Vibro cholerae O139 : identification, characterization and vaccine strategies

    Författare :Susanna Falklind Jerkérus; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Vibrio cholerae 0139; diarrhea; detection; carbohydrate mimics;

    Sammanfattning : Cholera is an acute dehydrating diarrheal disease, and epidemics as well as pandemics of cholera are a major health problem in developing countries and cause many deaths each year, especially in children. Cholera is caused by Vibrio cholerae serogroup, 01 and since 1992 also by serogroup 0139. The emergence of V. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Recombinant mucin-type proteins as tools for studies on the interactions between Helicobacter pylori and its carbohydrate receptors

    Författare :Yolanda H. Mthembu; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; O-glycans; mucins; glycosyltransferases; Helicobacter pylori; microbial adhesion;

    Sammanfattning : Glycan-protein interactions are important in pathogen adhesion and infections. H. pylori has adhesins which enables it to bind to glycans on the gastric mucosa and, in the long run, cause gastric cancer. The reported current antibiotic regimen used in the treatment to eradicate H. LÄS MER
