  1. 6. Microvascular inflammatory response in the skin

    Författare :Vladimir Evilevitch; Lunds universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; Physiology; Fysiologi; radiologi; Klinisk fysiologi; medical instrumentation; tomography; radiology; Clinical physics; sodium nitroprusside; terbutaline; anandamide; TRPV1; skin prick test; vanilloid receptor; skin microcirculation; laser Doppler imaging; Plasma exudation; vasodilatation;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the microvascular inflammatory response in the skin. The microvascular response includes vasodilatation and plasma exudation. In the first three studies, the combined response was measured in guinea pig skin with a technique based on detection of radiolabelled protein. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Sensory neuropeptides and nitric oxide in nasal vascular regulation

    Författare :Johan Rinder; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Sensory nerves; neuropeptides; nasal mucosa; nitric oxide; vascular regulation; acoustic rhinometry; NK1-receptors; CGRP-receptors; vanilloid receptors; capsaicin; lactic acid; exercise; a-adrenoceptor agonists; pig; human.;

    Sammanfattning : The role of sensory neuropeptides and nitric oxide in vascular regulation was investigated in the pig nasal mucosa in vivo using arterial blood flow measurements and acoustic rhinometry for analysis of capacitance function. Moreover, the effects of heavy physical exercise, a-adrenoceptor agonists, nitric oxide synthase (NOS) inhibition, L-arginine, nitric oxide (NO) gas, histamine and capsaicin on nasal cavity NO levels and nasal cavity volume, were investigated in healthy subjects. 3. 8. Roles of the transient receptor potential channels and the intracellular Ca2+ channels in Ca2+ signaling in the beta-cells

    Författare :Amanda Jabin Fågelskiöld; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Ca2 signaling;

    Sammanfattning : Previous studies from our group reported that pancreatic β-cells express ryanodine receptors (RyRs) that can mediate Ca2+-induced Ca2+ release (CICR). The full consequences of the activation of RyRs on Ca2+ signaling in these cells, however, remained unclear. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Release and effects of calcitonin gene-related peptide in myocardial ischaemia

    Författare :Göran Källner; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : A proportion of sensory C-fibres is characterized by sensitivity to the pungent agent in hot peppers, capsaicin. Upon stimulation by capsaicin, co-stored peptides including calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), are released from the peripheral terminals of these fibres. LÄS MER
