  1. 21. New targeted therapies for malignant neural tumors : From systematic discovery to zebrafish models

    Författare :Elin Almstedt; Sven Nelander; Rogier Versteeg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neuroblastoma; glioblastoma; data integration; zebrafish models; precision medicine; Oncology; Onkologi; Medical Cell Biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi; Medical Informatics; Medicinsk informatik; Farmakokinetik och läkemedelsterapi; Pharmacokinetics and Drug Therapy; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Cancers in the neural system presents a major health challenge. The most aggressive brain tumor in adults, glioblastoma, has a median survival of 15 months and few therapeutic options. High-risk neuroblastoma, a childhood tumor originating in the sympathetic nervous system, has a 5-year survival under 50%, despite extensive therapy. LÄS MER

  2. 22. The endocannabinoid system : a translational study from Achilles tendinosis to cyclooxygenase

    Författare :Emmelie Björklund; Christopher Fowler; Peter Zygmunt; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The endogenous cannabinoids anandamide (arachidonoyl ethanolamide, AEA) and 2-arachidonoyl glycerol (2-AG) exert their effect by activating cannabinoid receptors (CB). These receptors mediate a broad range of physiological functions such as beneficial effects in pain and inflammation, although little is known about the expression of CB receptors in human pain conditions. 3. 23. Endocannabinoids and N-acylethanolamines in translational pain research : from monoacylglycerol lipase to muscle pain

    Författare :Nazdar Ghafouri; Christopher J Fowler; Andrew SC Rice; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Monoacylglycerol lipase; endocannabinoid; palmitoylethanolamide; N-acylethanolamines; microdialysis; chronic widespread pain; muscle pain; trapezius;

    Sammanfattning : In the early nineties cannabinoid receptors, the main target for Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive component of marijuana were identified. Shortly after their endogenous ligands, N-arachidonoylethanolamine (anandamide, AEA) and 2-diacylglycerol (2-AG) were characterized. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Neurodevelopmental Consequences of Exposure to Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) and Related Drugs : Experimental studies in mice

    Författare :Gaëtan Philippot; Robert Fredriksson; Vesna Jevtovic-Todorovic; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; paracetamol acetaminophen ; developmental neurotoxicology; delta9-tetrahydrocannabinol THC ; ibuprofen; endocannabinoid system; neonatal mice; brain growth spurt; behavior; Biology with specialization in Environmental Toxicology; Biologi med inriktning mot miljötoxikologi;

    Sammanfattning : Paracetamol (acetaminophen) is the analgesic pharmaceutical most commonly used during pregnancy and early life. While therapeutic doses of paracetamol are considered harmless during these periods, recent findings in both humans and rodents suggest a link between developmental exposure to paracetamol and behavioral consequences later in life. 5. 25. The circuit and synaptic organization of the basal ganglia output : mechanistic insights on movement disorders and action control

    Författare :Giacomo Sitzia; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Understanding the neural circuitry underlying movement is a neuroscientific challenge that promises to help refining currently available treatments for movement disorders. Key structures for movement and action control are the basal ganglia nuclei, whose complexity has only just started to be resolved. LÄS MER
