6. The role of fusion oncogenes and cancer stem cells in myxoid liposarcoma
Sammanfattning : Myxoid liposarcoma (MLS) is characterised by the FUS-DDIT3, or the less common EWSR1-DDIT3 fusion oncogene and is the second most common type of liposarcoma. The fusion oncogenes encode chimeric transcription factors that are causal factors in tumourigenesis however, their functions are poorly known. LÄS MER
7. The impact of the progranulin-sortilin axis on breast cancer stem cell activity and patient outcome
Sammanfattning : Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women worldwide. Still today, despite current breast cancer therapies, many patients experience treatment resistance and relapse, which are believed to be due to failure in targeting treatment-resistant cancer stem cells. LÄS MER
8. Molecular Analysis of Breast Cancer Transcriptomes, Genomes, and Circulating Tumor DNA
Sammanfattning : Breast cancer is a very heterogeneous disease in terms of clinical characteristics, genetic aberrations and prognosis. In Paper I, we focused on the CD44 molecule that often is aberrantly expressed in breast cancer and is widely used as a marker for cancer stem cells. LÄS MER
9. Development of Gene Therapy for Hematopoietic Stem Cells using Lentiviral Vectors
Sammanfattning : Hematopoietic stem cells are an ideal target for genetic manipulation for the purpose of curing hematological disorders as they have the ability to develop into all blood lineages and to self-renew. In this study we demonstrate that lentiviral vectors, based on HIV-1, can efficiently transfer genes into human hematopoietic progenitor and stem cells as assessed following stem cell transplantation in immune compromised mice. 10. Targeted therapeutic strategies for prostate cancer treatment using novel lipid kinase inhibitors in combination with current drugs
Sammanfattning : Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the most common cancer types and the fifth cancer-related cause of death among Western world men. The sex steroid hormone, androgen and androgen receptor (AR) play important roles in PCa progression. LÄS MER
