  1. 6. Invasion and Proliferation in Malignant Cells

    Författare :Sofie Svensson Månsson; Malmö Patologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cancerology; oncology; Cytology; breast cancer; squamous cell carcinoma; basal cell carcinoma; p16; proliferation; invasion; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer;

    Sammanfattning : Two key events in the oncogenic process of tumor cells are to acquire uncontrolled proliferation and invasive properties. This allows the tumor to grow and invade beyond the tissue from which the tumor cells originate. LÄS MER

  2. 7. TGF-beta signaling in cancer

    Författare :Erik Johansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TGF-β; proliferation; cancer; tumor suppressor; diffuse-type gastric carcinoma; neuroblastoma; nuclear receptor TLX; cancer stem cell; angiogenesis; ABCG2; VHL; HIF2α; hypoxia; Smad3;

    Sammanfattning : Transforming Growth Factor Beta (TGF-β) is a cytokine regulating a wide range of cellular processes such as proliferation, differentiation, and migration. At the early stages of cancer development TGF-β functions as a tumor suppressor, mainly due to its inhibitory effect on cellular growth, but during cancer progression, mutations in TGF-β signal components switches TGF-β into a promoter of cancer cell proliferation, survival and metastasis. 3. 8. Predictive markers for tamoxifen response in primary breast cancer

    Författare :Maria Stendahl; Malmö Patologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cancer; General pathology; Cytologi; onkologi; prognosis; Cytology; oncology; cancerology; predictive marker; p27; cyclin D1; tamoxifen; PR; breast cancer; ER; pathological anatomy; Patologi allmän ; patologisk anatomi;

    Sammanfattning : It is well-known that a majority of breast cancers are hormone-dependent, making endocrine therapy an important adjuvant treatment after surgery. Susceptibility to endocrine treatment is determined by the presence of estrogen receptors (ER) and progesterone receptors (PR) in the tumors. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Utilization of single-cell RNA-Seq and genome-scale modeling for investigating cancer metabolism

    Författare :Johan Gustafsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; genome-scale metabolic modeling; cancer; metabolism; single-cell RNA-Seq;

    Sammanfattning : Cancer remains a leading cause of death worldwide, and its dysregulated metabolism is a promising target for therapy. However, metabolism is complex to study – the metabolism of a cell involves the interplay of thousands of chemical reactions that are combined in different ways across tissues and cell types. 5. 10. Molecular and Cellular Complexity of Glioma : Highlights on the Double-Edged-Sword of Infiltration Versus Proliferation and the Involvement of T Cells

    Författare :Demet Çağlayan; Bengt Westermark; Maria Ferletta; Ana Martin-Villalba; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; glioma; Sox2; Sox21; Snail; Bone morphogenetic protein; Sleeping Beauty; Gliomatosis Cerebri; T lymphocytes; T regulatory lymphocytes; Oncology; Onkologi; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), the most common and malignant brain tumor, is characterized by high molecular and cellular heterogeneity within and among tumors. Parameters such as invasive growth, infiltration of immune cells and endothelial proliferation contribute in a systemic manner to maintain the malignancy. LÄS MER
