1. Calcium regulation and functions of basic Helix-Loop-Helix transcription factors
Sammanfattning : The members of the ubiquitously expressed E-protein subfamily of basic Helix-Loop-Helix (bHLH) transcription factors, E12/E47, SEF2-1 and HEB, have important roles as regulators of gene expression in various differentiation processes, including lymphocyte development and myogenesis. In myogenesis, E-proteins are proposed to function as obligate heterodimer partners for members of the MyoD family of muscle-specific bHLH transcription factors. LÄS MER
2. Diving into the zebrafish locomotor network : A study on dI6 interneurons
Sammanfattning : The generation and coordination of locomotion comprise of inhibitory and excitatory interneurons that govern motor neuron output to muscles. This neuronal network is known as the central pattern generator (CPG). Spinal inhibitory interneurons that originate from the dI6 population play a crucial role in the coordination of locomotor output. LÄS MER
3. Calcium binding protein immunoreactivity in the central auditory system and correlations with the auditory periphery : the effects of noise and aging in mice
Sammanfattning : This study has examined how calcium binding protein immunoreactivity is modulated in the cochlear nucleus and the inferior colliculus after noise exposure and during aging in mice. The effect of noise exposure on calbindin-D28k (calbindin) and parvalbumin immunoreactivity in the dorsal and posteroventral cochlear nucleus (DCN and PVCN) and inferior colliculus (IC) was studied in CBA/CBA mice by using two-dimensional quantification. 4. Anatomical studies of the dopamine system in the hypothalamus and the pituitary gland
Sammanfattning : The hypothalamus is a small, evolutionarily conserved brain region, necessary for our survival as individuals and as a species. It collects various sensory inputs, process them to maintain homeostasis and to overcome stressors, and generates outputs that affect the autonomic nervous system, the endocrine system and somatomotor behaviors. 5. Distribution and connectivity of messenger molecules in the control of energy metabolism : focus on neuropeptides and calcium binding proteins
Sammanfattning : Feeding is an essential and complex behavior which aims to provide the energy required for maintaining physiological homeostasis. The drive to feed is a powerful stimulus arising from metabolic demands, and reinforced by evolutionary pressure. LÄS MER
