  1. 1. Studies of calcium binding proteins 1 and 2 and protein kinase CK2

    Författare :Inger Janson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; calcium binding protein 1; calcium binding protein 2; calcium binding protein 4; erd2 receptor; protein kinase CK2; endoplasmic reticulum; Golgi; microsomes; heparin; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Medical and Physiological Chemistry; medicinsk och fysiologisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is a major intracellular compartment of eukaryotic cells and is the site of the synthesis and post-translational modification of both secretory and membrane glycoproteins. Upon cell rupture vesicles of several kinds are formed from cell membranes, mainly derived from ER and are called microsomes. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Plant Calreticulins -Calcium-binding proteins with many functions

    Författare :Anna Christensen; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; tobacco; plant; calreticulin; isoforms; Arabidopsis; localization; mouse embryonic fibroblasts;

    Sammanfattning : Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) plays an important role in protein synthesis, folding, maturation and transport of newly synthesized proteins, as well as the regulation of cellular Ca2+ homeostasis. A protein that is involved in several of these functions in the ER is calreticulin (CRT), which is a Ca2+-binding chaperone that resides in the lumen of the ER. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The EGF-like Modules of Anticoagulant Protein S. Studies of Ca2+ binding and module interactions

    Författare :Yvonne Stenberg; Malmö Klinisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; enzymology; Proteins; Klinisk kemi; Clinical chemistry; calcium binding; Protein S; EGF-like module; Proteiner; enzymologi;

    Sammanfattning : Protein S functions as a cofactor to activated protein C (APC) in the degradation of factors Va and VIIIa. In plasma protein S circulates in two forms; 30-40 % circulates as free protein S molecules while the remaining 60-70 % exists in a 1:1 complex with C4b-binding protein (C4BP). Only the free form of protein S functions as a cofactor to APC. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Protein Interactions: Electrostatics and Ligand Binding

    Författare :Ingemar André; Biofysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular biophysics; Molekylär biofysik; secondary structure formation; protein GB1; pKa values; pH stability; NMR; electrostatic interactions; M proteins; calbindin D9k; calcium binding; cooperativity; calmodulin; calbindin D28k;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with Ca2+ binding to proteins, electrostatic interactions in and between proteins as well as inter- and intramolecular interactions. A computer program was developed to determine Ca2+ binding constants from experimental titration data of proteins. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Calreticulins- Calcium-Binding Proteins with Functional Diversity and Evolutionary Duality

    Författare :Staffan Persson; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plant biochemistry; plant; isoforms; evolution; diversity; differential regulation; chaperone; calnexin; calmegin; calcium; Arabidopsis; calreticulin; Växtbiokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Calreticulin is a multifunctional protein mainly localized in the endoplasmic reticulum in eukaryotic organisms, except yeasts. The protein comprises three distinct regions: the N-terminal N domain, the C-terminal C domain, and the central P domain, reflecting the functional diversity of calreticulin. LÄS MER
