  1. 1. Alopecia and vitiligo in autoimmune polyendocrine syndrome type I

    Författare :Håkan Hedstrand; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; APS I; autoantigen; vitiligo; alopecia areata; cDNA-library; immunoscreening; tyrosine hydroxylase; SOX9; SOX10; molecular mimicry; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medicine; medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Autoimmune polyendocrine syndrome type I (APS I) is a recessively inherited disease caused by mutations in a recently identified gene, AIRE, on human chromosome 21. APS I patients are affected by autoimmune destruction of multiple endocrine glands and other organs as well as ectodermal structures. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Heterologous expression and characterization of xyloglucan endotransglycosylases from Populus tremula x tremuloides

    Författare :Åsa Kallas; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :xyloglucan endotransglycosylase; transglycosylation; hybrid aspen; cell expansion; heterologous expression; Pichia pastoris; N-glycosylation; X-ray crystallography;

    Sammanfattning : Xyloglucan endotransglycosylases (XETs) are enzymes involvedin the reorganization of the primary cell wall. This thesisdescribes several aspects of XET16A from hybrid aspen (Populustremula x tremuloides). The gene was isolated from the hybridaspen cDNA library and the protein was expressed heterologouslyin the methylotrophic yeast Pichia pastoris. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Autoantigens in Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis

    Författare :Brita Ardesjö; Olov Ekwall; Olle Kämpe; Fredrik Rorsman; Eric Gershwin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Molecular medicine; inflammatory bowel disease; primary sclerosing cholangitis; autoimmunity; autoantigen; goblet cell; Molekylärmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) comprises diseases that are characterized by chronic or relapsing inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) is an extraintestinal manifestation in IBD. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Studies on the role of Dally-like during Drosophila development

    Författare :Narmada Khare; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Clinical biology; Drosophila; Dally-like; proteoglycans; signal transduction; Klinisk biologi;

    Sammanfattning : A cell is constantly subjected to cues from its surroundings in the form of signalling molecules e.g. Wingless (Wg), Insulin-like growth factor (IGF). As a result, important decisions regarding processes like growth, division, differentiation or migration are made. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Preproenkephalin Gene and mRNA : Studies of Structure, Function, Cocaine Responses in an Animal Model, and Genetic Association with Human Opiate Addiction

    Författare :Karl Steven LaForge; Fred Nyberg; Peter S. Eriksson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biological research on drug dependence; Neuropeptides; Endogenous opioid system; Drug addiction; Heroin; Cocaine; Gene expression; Genetic association; Biologisk beroendeforskning; Biological research on drug dependence; Biologisk beroendeforskning;

    Sammanfattning : The endogenous opioid enkephalin neuropeptides are mediators of pain perception and have been implicated in human addictions. The preproenkephalin gene and its mRNA have also provided many examples of tissue- and species-specific variations in mRNA structure produced through a variety of transcriptional and post-transcriptional mechanisms.
