16. Design of large scale and high speed intergrated systems
Sammanfattning : For integrated systems, as the scale grows larger and the speed goes higher, designers face many challenges. The topics in this thesis are concentrated on five design issues in large scale and high speed integrated systems. These challenging issues have been met in designing an ATM chip with a total throughput of 80Gb/s in a 0. LÄS MER
17. LL-37-derived cyclic antimicrobial drug leads : Design, synthesis, activity and different ways of creating them
Sammanfattning : In an era where last-line antibiotics are failing, one of the powerful approaches to develop novel therapeutic agents is to turn back to nature in order to identify possible drug candidates. Among the potential candidates, antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) have garnered much attention as an antimicrobial. LÄS MER
18. Model-based Analysis and Design of Atomic Layer Deposition Processes
Sammanfattning : Atomic layer deposition (ALD) is a thin-film manufacturing process in which the growth surface is exposed to non-overlapping alternating injections of gas-phase chemical precursor species separated by intermediate purge periods to prevent gas-phase reactions. ALD is characterized by sequential self-terminating heterogeneous reactions between highly reactive gas-phase precursor species and surface-bound species which, when allowed sufficient conditions to reach saturation, results in highly conformal films, on both planar and topographically complex structures. 19. Characterization of Antigenic Properties and High Throughput Protein Purification
Sammanfattning : To understand the cellular processes, knowledge of the localization and function of proteins are essential. There are several high throughput ventures examining the human proteome. However, there are some bottlenecks in these ventures. For example the production and expression of soluble proteins for analysis. LÄS MER
20. The Economics of Community-Based Wildlife Conservation in Zimbabwe
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the economics of community-based wildlife conservation in Zimbabwe. It consists of an introductory chapter and four self-contained chapters. Chapter 1 spells out the history of wildlife conservation leading to the inception of CAMPFIRE. Research issues at the core of the rest of the thesis are also highlighted. LÄS MER
