  1. 1. Topical formulations, design and drug delivery : "A dive into water"

    Författare :Abdullah Ali; Marie Lodén; Anan Yagmur; Anders Hall; Malmö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; water; topical formulations; Pickering emulsion; skin cream; drug delivery; tactile friction; sensory panel; nasal; buccal; mucosa; skin; triglycerides; ethanol; drug transport; cosmetic appeal;

    Sammanfattning : Water is a vital component regulating the properties of topical formulations and their interaction with biological barriers, such as skin and mucosa. Changing the watercontent within the frame of the pharmaceutical triangle will have a huge impact on which type of formulation, such as a cream, ointment, gel, or lotion, is formed, as well as the physical properties of the formulation. 2. 2. Gene expression in buccal keratinocytes with emphasis on carbonyl metabolism

    Författare :Claudia A Staab; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The inner lining of the cheek, the buccal mucosa, is a target for air-borne, dietary and tobacco usage-derived carcinogens, but also interesting from a drug delivery point of view. Cancer arising in the buccal epithelium, buccal squamous cell carcinoma (BSCC), often diagnosed at a late disease stage, is highly aggressive and recurrent, emphasizing the need for novel approaches in diagnosis and therapy. 3. 3. Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis - A study, with emphasis on host genetics, oral microbiota composition, and immunoregulatory networks

    Författare :Maria Bankvall; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Aphthous stomatitis; Oral mucosa; Oral medicine; Genome-wide association study; Genetic linkage; Association; Genetic polymorphism; Microbiota; Restriction fragment length polymorphism; Antigen-presenting cell; T-lymphocyte; Lymph node; Flow cytometry;

    Sammanfattning : Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is one of the most common oral mucosal lesions. The aetiology is unknown and currently there is no consensus regarding suitable treatment regimens. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Invariant T cell subsets in immune defense of oral mucosa and skin

    Författare :Michał J Sobkowiak; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Innate-like T lymphocytes such as mucosa-associated invariant T (MAIT) cells and invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells recognize antigens presented by MR1 and CD1d molecules, respectively. As MR1 presents microbial riboflavin metabolite antigens, and CD1d presents endogenous or microbial glycolipid antigens, MAIT cells and iNKT cells survey the non-protein fraction of the potential antigenic universe. 5. 5. p63 – from expression to function : studies of normal oral mucosa and squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck

    Författare :Niklas Thurfjell; Karin Nylander; Phillip Coates; Göran Roos; Luisa Guerrini; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; p63; SCCHN; p53; BRCA1; Pathology; Patologi;

    Sammanfattning : The human p63 gene discovered in 1997 encodes a series of protein isoforms that differ in their N- and/or C-terminal sequences. These isoforms have widely differing properties in promoting or repressing p53-related functions such as growth arrest and apoptosis. LÄS MER
