  1. 21. Myosin 1c taking adrenergic metabolism for a spin : More than a motor protein

    Författare :Alice Åslund; Tore Bengtsson; Michael Czech; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glucose uptake; Glucose transporter; Brown adipose tissue; White adipose tissue; Skeletal muscle; Myosin1c; Nuclear myosin I; Physiology; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : Metabolic diseases like type II diabetes (T2D) and obesity largely stems from an unbalanced energy homeostasis with the fails of the insulin pathway to the point in which the glucose homeostasis is severely disturbed leading to hyperglycemia. We have investigated if the β-adrenergic signaling pathways, in both brown adipose tissue (BAT) and skeletal muscle, could be used as a strategy to alleviate metabolic disease. LÄS MER

  2. 22. β-Adrenergic Signalling Through mTOR

    Författare :Jessica M. Olsen; Tore Bengtsson; Martin Klingenspor; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glucose uptake; Brown adipose tissue; White adipose tissue; Skeletal muscle; Mechanistic target of rapamycin; Glucose transporter; Physiology; fysiologi; Physiology;

    Sammanfattning : Adrenergic signalling is part of the sympathetic nervous system and is activated upon stimulation by the catecholamines epinephrine and norepinephrine. This regulates heart rate, energy mobilization, digestion and helps to divert blood flow to important organs. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Adrenergic regulation of proliferation and differentiation in brown adipose tissue

    Författare :Stefan Rehnmark; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Brown adipose tissue constitutes an interesting model for studies of cell proliferation and cellular differentiation. Cold exposure of an animal induces recruitment of the tissue; this is accompanied by a marked increase in the mitogenic activity within the tissue and an increased expression of the genes coding for lipoprotein lipase and the uncoupling protein thermogenin.
