11. The contribution of eosinophils and mediators in allergic inflammation
Sammanfattning : The aim of the present work was to investigate the development of allergic inflammation. For this purpose human experimental challenge models in skin, nose and bronchi were used as well as pharmacological interventions. A variety of inflammatory cells and mediators have been suggested as important in the pathogenesis of allergic inflammation. LÄS MER
12. Effects of glucocorticoids or beta 2-agonists on inflammatory responses induced by organic dust in vitro and in vivo
Sammanfattning : Exposure of healthy subjects in a swine barn causes an acute inflammatory response in the airways and an increase in bronchial responsiveness to methacholine. The aim of this thesis was to study the mechanisms by which glucocorticoids or Beta2-agonists interfere with the inflammatory response following swine house dust-exposure both in vitro and in vivo. 13. Asthma in adolescents, during the transition from child to adult, effects on physiological parameters and health related quality of life
Sammanfattning : The aims of this thesis were to evaluate physiological and allergic aspects and consequences of asthma and possible correlation between Health Related Quality of Life (HRQOL) and atopy, lung function, bronchial hyper-responsiveness and regular physical exercise. Possible risk factors for deterioration among patients in their late teenage years prior to and following transfer to adult healthcare were examined. LÄS MER
14. A study on pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic effects of salbutamol-isomers
15. Inflammatory Markers, Respiratory Diseases, Lung Function and Associated Gender Differences
Sammanfattning : Systemic inflammation is associated with impaired lung function. Inflammation is part of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), but the local and systemic inflammatory pattern differs. LÄS MER
