  1. 1. Dielectric Properties of Liquid-Impregnated Porous Solids

    Författare :Bo Nettelblad; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fluid-solid interface; porous microstructure; temperature; ion-containing liquid; transport properties of porous media; brine; salinity; electric conduction; models of composite media; interface phenomena; dielectric relaxation; rock;

    Sammanfattning : Dielectric spectroscopy is a versatile tool that can often be used as a non-destructive, indirect way of measuring other important properties (such as content of crude oil or degree of curing of a resin). The dielectric properties of materials are thus of interest in several circumstances and not only for materials used for electrical purposes (such as electrical insulation). LÄS MER

  2. 2. Towards the Improvement of Salt Extraction from Lake Katwe Raw Materials in Uganda

    Författare :Hillary Kasedde; Pär Jönsson; Anders Tilliander; Eric Forssberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Lake Katwe; salt extraction; brine; evaporites; saltpan; characterization; evaporation - crystallization; solubility; Pitzer ’s ion - interaction model; PHREEQC software; dissolution kinetics; Avrami model.;

    Sammanfattning : Uganda is well endowed with economic quantities of mineral salts present in the interstitial brines and evaporite deposits of Lake Katwe, a closed (endorheic) saline lake located in the western branch of the great East African rift valley. Currently, rudimentally and artisanal methods continue to be used for salt extraction from the lake raw materials. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Optimization of ground-coupled systems for heating and cooling of buildings

    Författare :Jüri Naumov; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; free-cooling; brine temperature; heat pump; ground system; heating demand; storage; building load; cooling demand; Borehole;

    Sammanfattning : The use of ground-coupled systems in commercial buildings offers economic as well as environmental advantages. When both heating and cooling is required, a ground-coupled system can function both as a heat source and a heat sink. At the same time, it can also serve as a short term as well as a seasonal storage. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Proterozoic to Quaternary Events of Fracture Mineralisation and Oxidation in SE Sweden

    Författare :Henrik Drake; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fracture minerals; low-temperature evolution; paleohydrogeology; redox front; wall rock alteration; stable isotopes; geochemistry; Ar-Ar dating; fluid inclusions; Mössbauer spectroscopy; U-series disequilibrium; Simpevarp; Laxemar; SE Sweden; nuclear waste repository.;

    Sammanfattning : Fracture minerals and altered wall rock have been analysed to reveal the low-temperature evolution, especially regarding redox conditions, of the Simpevarp area, SE Sweden. This area is one of the two areas in Sweden investigated by the Swedish Nuclear fuel and Waste Management Co. LÄS MER

  5. 5. REACTIVE TRANSPORT MODELLING OF DISSOLVED CO2 IN POROUS MEDIA : Injection into and leakage from geological reservoirs

    Författare :Nawaz Ahmad; Anders Wörman; Auli Niemi; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CO2 geological storage and safety; leakage of brine saturated with dissolved CO2; reactive transport; fracture; advection; dispersion and diffusion; sorption; carbonate minerals kinetic reactions; calcite; dolomite; siderite; porosity; permeability; heat transport; Land and Water Resources Engineering; Mark- och vattenteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The geological sequestration of carbon dioxide (CO2) is one of the options of controlling the greenhouse gas emissions. However, leakage of CO2 from the storage reservoir is a risk associated with geological sequestration. Over longer times, large-scale groundwater motion may cause leakage of dissolved CO2 (CO2aq).
