  1. 16. Short-term pulmonary side-effects following radiation therapy in breast cancer

    Författare :Pehr Lind; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :breast neoplasm; radiotherapy; pulmonary side-effects;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this dissertation was to study the short-term pulmonary side-effects following adjuvant radiotherapy for breast cancer in terms of clinical pulmonary complications, loss of pulmonary function and radiological abnormalities, and the association to irradiated lung volume and dose. Furthermore, we wanted to estimate the influence of covariates, e. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Determinants of breast cancer risk : focusing on mammographic density

    Författare :Thang Trinh; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Breast cancer is the most common cancer and also one of the leading causes of cancer death among women worldwide. Since most known factors associated with breast cancer risk are difficult to influence, the potential of lifestyle factors, which are modifiable, in breast cancer prevention has recently been emphasised. 3. 18. Statistical models of breast cancer tumour growth and spread

    Författare :Gabriel Isheden; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we develop statistical methods for studying tumour growth and metastatic lymph node spread in breast cancer. The methods can be used for analysing breast cancer disease progression before diagnosis. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Pedicled and free TRAM flaps in breast reconstructions : a comparative study

    Författare :Åsa Edsander-Nord; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :breast reconstruction; TRAM; pedicled flap; free flap; microdialysis; monitoring; flap circulation; flap metabolism; glucose; lactate; glycerol; abdominal muscles; trunk muscle strength; KIN-COM; quantitative sensory testing; tactile perception threshold; thermal perception threshold; breast volume; thermoplastic; quality of life; SF-36; esthetic evaluation; applanation tonometry;

    Sammanfattning : The transverse rectus abdominis musculocutaneous (TRAM) flap is frequently used when autologous tissue is desired for breast reconstruction, and it can be transferred pedicled or free. The pedicled TRAM flap is elevated as a lower transverse abdominal flap with the rectus abdominis muscle attached in the epigastric area, by which means the deep superior epigastric vessels nourish the flap.
