6. MRI Studies of the Fetal Brain and Cranium
Sammanfattning : Ultrasound is the primary modality for fetal imaging, but Magnetic Resonance Imaging nowadays has a valuable complementary role as it often reveals findings that alter pregnancy management. Knowledge on some clinically relevant areas of the normal fetal development is still lacking, and this was the aim of this project. LÄS MER
7. Survival of the Tamest : The Domesticated Phenotype in Red Junglefowl Selected for Tameness
Sammanfattning : Early animal domestication was probably associated with reduced fear of humans. Domestication is a process in which animals adapt to humans and the captive environment provided by humans. Selection on tameness as the only trait has previously been found to generate changes in other phenotypes in different animal species. LÄS MER
8. Factors influencing transferrin receptor-mediated brain delivery : Evaluating preclinical antibody-based proteins for PET imaging in Alzheimer’s disease
Sammanfattning : Antibody-based proteins targeting amyloid-beta (Aβ) could be used as radioligands in positron emission tomography (PET) to study Alzheimer’s disease (AD) pathology in the living brain. The prospective advantages of antibody-based PET are to detect pathology earlier, with higher sensitivity, and to evaluate treatment effects of emerging immunotherapies against Aβ. LÄS MER
9. Epigenetic Dysregulations in the Brain of Human Alcoholics : Analysis of Opioid Genes
Sammanfattning : Neuropeptides are special in their expression profiles restricted to neuronal subpopulations and low tissue mRNA levels. Genetic, epigenetic and transcriptional mechanisms that define spatiotemporal expression of the neuropeptide genes have utmost importance for the formation and functions of neural circuits in normal and pathological human brain. 10. Ultra wideband microwave hyperthermia for brain cancer treatment
Sammanfattning : Despite numerous clinical trials demonstrating that microwave hyperthermia is a powerful adjuvant modality in the treatment of cancers, there have been few instances where this method has been applied to brain tumors. The reason is a combination of anatomical and physiological factors in this site that require an extra degree of accuracy and precision in the thermal dose delivery. LÄS MER
