6. Train your brain : updating, transfer, and neural changes
Sammanfattning : An initial aim of this thesis was to determine whether training of a specific executive function (updating) produces improvements in performance on trained and transfer tasks, and whether the effects are maintained over time. Neural systems underlying training and transfer effects were also investigated and one question considered is whether transfer depends on general or specific neural overlap between training and transfer tasks. 7. Diffusion tensor magnetic resonance imaging of the brain : Tractography analysis with application in healthy individuals and patients
Sammanfattning : In study 1, thirty-eight healthy controls were used for optimization of the method. Fifteen patients with progressive supranuclear palsy and an equal number of age-matched healthy controls underwent diffusion tensor MRI and were then investigated and compared groupwise. LÄS MER
8. Evaluation of Intracranial Arteriovenous Malformations with Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Sammanfattning : Intracranial arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are characterized by feeding arteries, a tangle of abnormal vessels (nidus) and draining veins. Radiological evaluation methods are used in diagnosing AVMs, treatment planning, post-treatment evaluation and monitoring stability. LÄS MER
9. Gadodiamide injection for Enhancement of MRI in the CNS. Applications, dose, field and time dependence
Sammanfattning : Aims of the study The aims of this study using Gadodiamide injection were to investigate: · Whether Gadodiamide injection was comparable to Gd-DTPA for the enhancement of CNS lesions. · The contrast effect at different field strengths. · The effective time-window for the enhancement of blood-brain barrier damage. 10. Brain Structure and Function in Adolescents with Atypical Anorexia Nervosa
Sammanfattning : Atypical anorexia nervosa (AAN) has a high incidence in adolescents, resulting in significant morbidity and mortality. The weight loss is generally less pronounced than that experienced in full-syndrome anorexia nervosa (AN), but the medical consequences can be as severe. LÄS MER
