    Sammanfattning : Popular Abstract in Swedish Vår forskningsgrupp har tidigare påvisat kraftiga förändringar i genuttryck för neurotrofiner, en familj av tillväxtfaktorer för nervceller, och deras receptorer i kortikala och hippokampala nervceller vid olika hjärnskador. Det är till stora delar okänt vilken funktion neurotrofiner har efter hjärnskador, men neurotrofinsvaret skulle kunna vara en skyddande mekanism och leda till sprouting och synaptisk omorganisation, eller ha direkta effekter på synaptisk transmission.     Sammanfattning : Enriched environment (EE) housing significantly ameliorates neurological deficits induced by cortical brain ischemia without changing infarction size, suggesting that EE-related functional benefits are associated with neuronal plasticity events in the remaining tissue. Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), nerve growth factor-induced gene A (NGFI-A) and corticosteroid receptors (mineralocorticoid receptor, MR; glucocorticoid receptor, GR) have been demonstrated to be involved in brain plasticity.     Sammanfattning : Formation of the cerebral cortex is controlled by tightly regulated processes: the proliferation and survival decisions of neural progenitors, radial and tangential migration of neuronal precursors, axon guidance and dendritic growth underpinning the formation of synapses.
