  1. 1. The Baltic Sea from the present to future : microbial carbon & nutrient cycling in a changing climate

    Författare :Laura Seidel; Mark Dopson; Jarone Pinhassi; Ashfaq Ali; Stefan Hulth; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Climate change; coastal sediments; Baltic Sea; eutrophication; bacterial communities; 16S rRNA; metatranscriptomics; geochemical layers; diversity; nutrient- energy cycling; Klimawandel; Küstensediment; Ostsee; Eutrophierung; Bakterielle Gemeinschaften; 16S rRNA.; Metatranskriptome; Geochemische Schichten; Diversität; Nährstoff- Energiezyklus.; Klimatförändringar; bottensediment; kust; Östersjön; eutrofiering; mikrobiella samhällen; 16S rRNA; metatranskriptomik; geokemiska lager; diversitet; närsalts- och energiflöden; Akvatisk ekologi; Aquatic Ecology; Miljövetenskap; Environmental Science;

    Sammanfattning : Climate Change is caused by the accelerated increase of anthropogenic greenhousegas emissions to the atmosphere and affects all ecosystems on our planet. A resultof higher CO2 uptake by the oceans as well as an increase of heat trapped in theatmosphere leads to, for example acidification, stratification, sea-level rise, oxygenloss, and temperature increase of the earth’s waterbodies. 2. 2. Ecology and evolution of coastal Baltic Sea 'dead zone' sediments

    Författare :Elias Broman; Mark Dopson; Nils Risgaard-Petersen; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Baltic Sea; sediment; oxygen; metatranscriptomics; metagenomics; 16S rRNA gene; RNA-seq; dead zone; re-oxygenation; Akvatisk ekologi; Aquatic Ecology;

    Sammanfattning : Since industrialization and the release of agricultural fertilizers began, coastal and open waters of the Baltic Sea have been loaded with nutrients. This has increased the growth of algal blooms and because a portion of the algal organic matter sinks to the sea floor, hypoxia has increased. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Sediment transport from source to sink in the Lake Baikal basin : Impacts of hydroclimatic change and mining

    Författare :Jan Pietroń; Jerker Jarsjö; Enrica Viparelli; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; sediment transport; human impact; hydroclimatic change; surface mining; metal-enriched sediment; Lake Baikal; the Selenga River; the Selenga Delta; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : Different magnitude, intensity and timing of precipitation can impact runoff, hillslope erosion and transport of sediment along river channels.  Human activities, such as dam construction and surface mining can also considerably influence transport of sediment and sediment-bound contaminants. 4. 4. Marine silicon cycle through the Cenozoic

    Författare :Guillaume Fontorbe; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Si isotopes; Paleogene; PETM; glacial-interglacial; ocean circulation;

    Sammanfattning : Silicon (Si) cycle is one of Earth's major biogeochemical cycles. Furthermore, the dissolved form of Si (DSi) is an essential nutrient for both terrestrial and marine ecosystems. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Landslide of contaminated soil into rivers: Environmental impacts and risks

    Författare :Gunnel Göransson; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; contaminated soil; landslide; risk assessment; river; water quality;

    Sammanfattning : Landslide risk assessments and environmental risk assessments are routinely carried out in many countries exposed to landslide hazards and/or contaminated soil hazards, but separately from each other. By combining results from different types of risk assessments and superimposing the results, possible multi-hazards may be revealed, which is not the case when the results are only displayed independently.
