  1. 1. Microbial Communities in Boreal Peatlands : Responses to Climate Change and Atmospheric Nitrogen and Sulfur Depositions

    Författare :Magalí Martí Genero; Bo Svensson; Åsa Danielsson; Torben Christensen; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Microbial communities; methanogens; plant communities; peatland; temperature; nitrogen; long-term; field experiment; high-throughput sequencing; Microbiella samhällen; metanogener; växtsamhällen; myrar; torv; temperatur; kväve; långtid; fältexperiment; high-throughput-sekvensering;

    Sammanfattning : Myrmarker har en stor roll i regleringen av den globala kolbalansen och koncentrationerna av koldioxid och metan i atmosfären, vilket gör dem till speciellt viktiga ekosystem ur ett klimatförandringsperspektiv. Förändringar av myrmarker genom naturlig utveckling eller antropogen påverkan kan därför få långtgående störningar av myrars klimatreglerande funktion. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Modelling carbon uptake in Nordic forest landscapes using remote sensing

    Författare :Sofia Junttila; BECC: Biodiversity and Ecosystem services in a Changing Climate; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; forest; peatland; boreal region; remote sensing; carbon exchange; gross primary production; CO2; climate change; Sentinel-2;

    Sammanfattning : Boreal forests and peatlands store over 30% of the global terrestrial carbon in their vegetation and soil. but changing climate can compromise the current carbon stock. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Carbon exchange in boreal ecosystems: upscaling and the impacts of natural disturbances

    Författare :Julia Kelly; BECC: Biodiversity and Ecosystem services in a Changing Climate; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carbon fluxes; CH4; Climate change; CO2; Drought; Ecosystem respiration; Forest; Peatland; Remote sensing; Temperature; Thermal camera; UAV; Wildfire;

    Sammanfattning : Boreal forests and peatlands are globally significant carbon stores but they are threatened by rising air temperatures and changes in precipitation regimes and the frequency of natural disturbances. Predicting how the boreal biome will respond to climate change depends on being able to accurately model and upscale the greenhouse gas fluxes between these ecosystems and the atmosphere. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Hydrological aspects of the carbon balance in a boreal catchment: A model study

    Författare :Alla Yurova; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cartography; pedology; geomorphology; Physical geography; boreal peatland; dissolved organic carbon; ecohydrology; model; climatology; Fysisk geografi; geomorfologi; marklära; kartografi; klimatologi;

    Sammanfattning : AbstractThe cycling of carbon in its gaseous, solid and dissolved forms is of central importance to ecosystem science, particularly, when the natural carbon cycle has been perturbed by human activity. Mathematical models are commonly used to asses and predict global and regional patterns of terrestrial carbon exchange. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Plant responses after drainage and restoration in rich fens

    Författare :Kalle Mälson; Håkan Rydin; Sebastian Sundberg; Harri Vasander; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ecology; brown mosses; bryophytes; colonization; competition; dispersal limitation; liming; mire; peatland; rewetting; wetland restoration; Ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Rich fens are an important, but threatened, habitat type in the boreal landscape. In this thesis I have examined responses of rich fen vascular plants and bryophytes after drainage and restoration.The effects of drainage on the rich fen flora were observed in a long time study and the responses were rapid and drastic.
