21. On Direct Drive Bone Conduction Devices - Hearing Rehabilitation and Objective Assessment of Stimulation Methods
Sammanfattning : Bone conduction devices (BCDs) rely on the transmission of sound in form of vibrations generated by a transducer to the inner ear via the skull and surrounding soft tissues. Direct drive BCDs stimulate the skull bone directly, either via a skin-penetrating abutment (BAHAs, Bone Anchored Hearing Aids), or with a transducer implanted under intact skin (active transcutaneous devices). 22. Advances in Bone Tissue Engineering
Sammanfattning : Bone deficiencies, caused by malformations, trauma or adverse effects from medical treatments, are a clinical challenge and often associated with reduced physical function and quality of life. Autologeous bone grafts can be used to reconstruct skeletal defects, but the right size and quality of bone might not always be available and even so, donor-site morbidity might follow. LÄS MER
23. Cone Beam Computed Tomography - radiation dose and image quality assessments
Sammanfattning : Diagnostic radiology has undergone profound changes in the last 30 years. New technologies are available to the dental field, cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) as one of the most important. LÄS MER
24. Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction: long-term outcome in adults and adolescents. Clinical results, health-related quality of life, radiographic findings and bone mineral assessments
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to measure health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and assess pre-operative factors predicting good outcome of HRQoL after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. Furthermore, to specifically assess long-term radiographic findings, clinical results, and bone mineral density in adolescents after ACL reconstruction. LÄS MER
25. Quality of life, physical activity and bone health in idiopathic scoliosis
Sammanfattning : Idiopathic scoliosis is a deformation of the spine affecting 1-3% of children and adolescents during growth. Severe deformities may lead to pulmonary dysfunction, pain and decreased quality of life. The etiology of the disease remains unknown. LÄS MER
