  1. 1. Modulation of B cell access to antigen by passively administered antibodies : an explanation for antibody feedback regulation?

    Författare :Hui Xu; Birgitta Heyman; Helena Harris; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; IgG; IgG3; IgE; suppression; enhancement; epitope masking; antigen transport; antigen presentation; follicular B cells; marginal zone B cells; Immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Antibody responses can be up- or down-regulated by passive administration of specific antibody together with antigen. Depending on the structure of the antigen and the antibody isotype, responses can be completely suppressed or enhanced up to a 1000-fold of what is seen in animals immunized with antigen alone. 2. 2. Understanding the role of bone marrow niche in myeloid malignancies

    Författare :Monika Dolinska; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Normal hematopoiesis is generated and maintained by rare hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) through their capacity to self-renew and differentiate. This process is rigorously controlled, both by HSC-intrinsic molecular programs and extrinsic signals emitted by the local bone marrow (BM) microenvironment, the so-called HSC niche. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Immunotherapy with the anti-EpCAM monoclonal antibody and cytokines in patients with colorectal cancer : a clinical and experimental study

    Författare :Maria Gustafsson Liljefors; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Colorectal carcinoma; monoclonal antibodies; GM-CSF; pharmacokinetics; prognosis; bone marrow micrometastases; cytokeratin-positive cells; Colorectal carcinoma;

    Sammanfattning : The tumor-associated antigen EpCAM (epithelial cell-adhesion molecule) (C017-1A) is over expressed by various human carcinomas, including colorectal carcinoma (CRC). This antigen can be used as a target structure for specific immunotherapy with vaccines and monoclonal antibodies (MAb). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Clinical and immunological aspects of human parvovirus B19 infection

    Författare :Oscar Norbeck; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Human Parvovirus B19; intrauterine fetal death; hematopoiesis; bone marrow suppression; gamma-interferon; immune response; cytotoxic T cell; acute infection; persistent infection;

    Sammanfattning : Human parvovirus B19 (B19) causes erythema infectiosum, a limited disease of childhood also known as the fifth disease or slapped cheek syndrome, referring to the characteristic facial rash. It normally infects through the respiratory route, even though transmission via blood products and transplanted organs occur. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Targeted CD52 therapy in lymphoid malignancies : a clinical and immunological study

    Författare :Jeanette Lundin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :CD52; alemtuzumab; Campath; monoclonal antibodies; chronic lymphocytic leukemia; non-Hodgkin s lymphoma; mycosis fungoides; immune suppression;

    Sammanfattning : There is a great need for developing new treatment alternatives in low grade non Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) including chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). The CD52 antigen, which is expressed on almost all lymphoid malignancies, can be utilized as a target for CD52-directed monoclonal antibody therapy (alemtuzumab, Campath-1 H). LÄS MER
