  1. 6. An injectable biphasic bone substitute in sinus augmentation

    Författare :Anna Truedsson; Malmö högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Dentala implantat; Dental Implants; Bone transplantation; Bone substitutes;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns a new synthetic, injectable bone substitute, Cerament™, primarily developed for treatment of vertebral fractures. The purpose of the thesis was to investigate the properties of the newbone substitute, that is, whether it can contribute to the generation of new bone formation needed for placement of future dental implants. 2. 7. Craniofacial bone reconstruction with bone morphogenetic protein-2

    Författare :Ann-Charlott Docherty Skogh; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :bone morphogenetic protein;

    Sammanfattning : Bone defects in the craniofacial area are a clinical challenge and can be the result of trauma, tumour resection or congenital malformations. The golden standard for reconstruction is autologous bone grafts, but bone may not always be readily available and donor-site morbidity might follow. LÄS MER

  3. 8. On tissue reactions to and resorption of bone substitutes

    Författare :Arne Mordenfeld; Malmö högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; bone graft; bone substitutes; sinus floor augmentation; lateral ridge augmentation;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The increasing need for bone grafting procedures inimplant dentistry and the introduction of a variety of bone substitutesrequire a deeper understanding of the biological response and shortandlong-term behaviour of these materials to choose the adequategraft and surgical procedure for the intended clinical application.Aims: The overall aim was to clinically and histologically studythe short- and long-term tissue reactions to and resorption of bonesubstitutes after bone augmentation. 4. 9. On healing of titanium implants in iliac crest bone grafts

    Författare :Mats Sjöström; Stefan Lundgren; Lars Sennerby; Christian Lindqvist; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Surgery; Edentulous atrophic maxilla; Autogenous bone graft; Endosteal implants; Microimplants; Resonance frequency analysis; Implant survival; Graft volume changes; Kirurgi; odontologi; Odontology;

    Sammanfattning : Bone grafts and titanium implants are commonly used for surgical/prosthetic rehabilitation of the atrophic edentulous maxilla. The factors which influence bone graft healing and implant integration are not sufficiently understood. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Healing of endosseous implants with different surface characteristics in grafted and non-grafted bone : clinical and experimental studies

    Författare :Måns Jungner; Stefan Lundgren; Malou Hultcrantz; Carina Lundqvist; Peter Nilsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Dental implants; surface characteristics; bone graft; maxillary sinus; implant survival; oxidized surface; turned surface; sinus membrane elevation; bone formation; macrophages; osteocalcin; osteopontin; CD68; odontologi; Odontology;

    Sammanfattning : Aims: This study uses radiological and clinical evaluations of the healing of endosseous titanium implants presented with different surface characteristics in the clinical situation (paper I-III) and experimentally to describe the early bone healing in maxillary sinus membrane elevation with and without the use of grafting material (paper IV).Material and methods: In paper I, 136 patients were treated with 394 dental implants – 199 were oxidized titanium implants (Nobel Biocare TiUnite) and 195 were turned titanium surface implants (Nobel Biocare Mark III).
