1. Switched Bond Graphs : Simulation and Analysis
Sammanfattning : In this thesis an approach to modeling and simulation of mode switching systems is investigated. This approach, switched bond graphs, is an extension of the bond graph language in the sense that it allows modeling of mode switching phenomena. The classical bond graph language as well as the switched bond graph language are presented. 2. A theory of bond applied to overlapped tensile reinforcement splices for deformed bars
Sammanfattning : A bond theory for deformed reinforcing bars in concrete is elaborated taking into account different stages in development of final rupture occurring as splitting or pull-out. The concrete cover splitting resistance is modelled for a thick-walled concrete ring in elastic and plastic stages. Different final possible failure modes are analysed. LÄS MER
3. Bridges with Random Length and Pinning Point for Modelling the Financial Information
Sammanfattning : The impact of the information concerning an event of interest occurring at a future random time is the main topic of this work. The event can massively influence financial markets and the problem of modelling the information on the time at which it occurs is of crucial importance in financial modelling. LÄS MER
4. Four applications of stochastic processes : Contagious disease, credit risk, gambling and bond portfolios
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of four papers on applications of stochastic processes. In Paper I we study an open population SIS (Susceptible - Infective - Susceptible) stochastic epidemic model from the time of introduction of the disease, through a possible outbreak and to extinction. The analysis uses coupling arguments and diffusion approximations. LÄS MER
5. Challenges in Enzyme Catalysis - Photosystem II and Orotidine Decarboxylase : A Density Functional Theory Treatment
Sammanfattning : Possibly the most fascinating biochemical mechanism remaining to be solved is the formation of oxygen from water in photosystem II. This is a critical part of the photosynthetic reaction that makes solar energy accessible to living organisms. LÄS MER
