Sammanfattning : The main aim of this thesis is to explore young women’s lived experience of the body, which, on one hand, is viewed as deviant – the disabled body – and, on the other hand, is viewed as accomplished – the sporting body. The questions posed in the thesis are the following: how do the young women handle the two subject positions that emerge as a result of the perception of them as respectively deviant and accomplished, which forms of femininity are available to them and what are the strategies of resistance they develop. 2. (Dis)engaging in moving-body practices : physical activity correlates among university students in Mexico
Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to gather in-depth data to provide insights into individual, social and environmental correlates of physical activity in order to identify priority elements to design feasible and effective intervention strategies to promote regular physical activity engagement among university students in a middle-income country such as Mexico. The situation of university students (dis)engaging in moving-body practices was explored through the use of a survey based on the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire and the construction of Moving-body diaries that included visual and verbal narratives. Sammanfattning : Aim: The overall aim of the thesis was to explore how the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) diary was experienced by family members, family members of non-survivors and nursing staff in the ICU setting, thereby contributing to the development of national clinical practice guidelines regarding the structure, content and use of the ICU diary.Methods: A qualitative design was employed for all four studies: a hermeneutic approach was adopted in studies I and II, whilst a qualitative descriptive design with the use of focus groups interviews was chosen in study III. Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the intersections of masculinity, old age and sexuality from the perspectives of old men themselves, how they understand and experience sex and sexuality in later life.
