  1. 16. Osteoarthritis of the Hip and Uncemented Total Hip Arthroplasty : Effects of Immediate Weight Bearing on Implant Stability, Bone Mineral Density, and Body Composition

    Författare :Olof Wolf; Hans Mallmin; Sune Larsson; Jan Milbrink; Per Mattsson; Per Adolphson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Osteoarthritis of the hip; uncemented; total hip arthroplasty; stability; RSA; BMD; DXA; body composition; weight bearing; Orthopaedics; Ortopedi; Orthopaedics; Ortopedi;

    Sammanfattning : The initial recommendation for the postoperative regime after uncemented total hip arthroplasty (THA) was 6-12 weeks of partial weight bearing (PWB) to obtain a stable implant position during bone ingrowth. In recent years patients with uncemented THA have increasingly practiced full weight bearing (FWB) after surgery, which has largely been based on clinical experience rather than on scientific evidence. 2. 17. Adverse Muscle Composition : Revisiting Sarcopenia in General Population and Liver Disease using Magnetic Resonance Imaging

    Författare :Jennifer Linge; Mattias Ekstedt; Patrik Nasr; Martin Henriksson; Tommy Cederholm; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Sarcopenia - from the Greek words 'sarx' (flesh) and 'penia' (loss) - was, when coined in 1989, a term denoting the decline in muscle mass and strength that occurs with aging. Such definition implies everyone suffers from sarcopenia to varying degrees, which naturally makes studying sarcopenia challenging. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Physical performance, physical activity, body composition and exercise training in adults with congenital heart disease

    Författare :Camilla Sandberg; Bengt Johansson; Karin Wadell; Lena Jonasson; Umeå universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Background Adults with congenital heart disease (CHD) is a growing population and related to advances in surgical and medical treatment, they now outnumber the children with corresponding lesions. Since a congenital heart lesion often results in reduced exercise capacity, this population is a potential target for physiotherapy. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Nutritional status, body composition and physical activity among older people living in residential care facilities

    Författare :Maine Carlsson; Yngve Gustafson; Frode Slinde; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Nutritional status; constipation; BW loss; UTI; body composition; exercise; muscle mass; functional balance; Nutrition; Näringslära; näringslära; Nutrition;

    Sammanfattning : The main purpose of this thesis was to study, whether drinkable yoghurt enriched with probiotic bacteria could have any effect on constipation and body weight (BW) among older people with dementia. Further, it concerns poor nutritional status among older people with physical and cognitive impairments and its relationship with factors commonly occur in older people living in residential care facilities. 5. 20. Sex steroid metabolism and body composition

    Författare :Charlotte Swanson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :UDP glucuronosyltranferases; polymorphisms; androgens; glucuronidated androgen metabolites; fat mass; bone; metabolic risk factors; population study;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The bioactive androgens testosterone (T) and dihydrotestosterone (DHT) regulate bone and fat mass in men. The effects of androgens are largely determined by the rate of their synthesis and inactivation. LÄS MER
