  1. 16. Body posture and gravity as determinants of lung perfusion and ventilation

    Författare :Malin Ax; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Normal lung gas exchange depends on an intimate match between regional ventilation and regional blood flow in the lungs. The beneficial effect of the prone posture in acute respiratory failure is well documented but the mechanisms involved are not completely understood. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Fetal Cardiac Function and Venous Circulation - Experiences with Velocity Vector Imaging

    Författare :Charlotte Dahlbäck; Urogynekologi och reproduktionsfarmakologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pregnancy; fetus; strain; speckle tracking; cardiac function; umbilical vein; venous; ductus venosus; Doppler;

    Sammanfattning : Placental dysfunction resulting in intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) is a common complication of pregnany and severe IUGR, with ensuing fetal hypoxia is an important cause of perinatal mortality and morbidity. Doppler studies of fetal and maternal vessels are routinely used for fetal surveillance and alterations in fetal venous blood flow has been demonstrated as a late sign of fetal compromise. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Postmortem toxicology : aspects on interpretation

    Författare :Per Holmgren; Jörg Mörland; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Postmortem toxicology is a matter of analytical chemistry and the consequent interpretation of the results. Thus, both parts are of great importance to come to the right conclusion or the most probable explanation of the analytical results. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Evaluation of Repositioning in Pressure Ulcer Prevention

    Författare :Ulrika Källman; Margareta Lindgren; Anna-Christina Ek; Maria Engström; Ingalill Rahm-Hallberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: To reduce the risk for pressure ulcers, repositioning of immobile patients is an important standard nursing practice. However, knowledge on how this preventive intervention is carried out among elderly immobile patients is limited and to what extent patients perform minor movements between nursing staff-induced repositionings is largely unknown, but these movements might have implications for the repositioning intervention. 5. 20. Brain-sparing Circulation in Growth-restricted Human Fetuses

    Författare :Jing Fu; Urogynekologi och reproduktionsfarmakologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Obstetrics; gynaecology; andrology; reproduction; sexuality; Fetal growth-restriction.; Brain-sparing.; Oxytocin challenge test.; Obstetrik; gynekologi; andrologi; reproduktion; sexualitet;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the studies was to explore fetal circulatory changes relative to development of brain-sparing flow (BSF) in growth-restricted fetuses exposed to acute hypoxic stress, as provoked by uterine contractions during an oxytocin challenge test (OCT).(1) In fetuses with a normal cerebral circulation during basal conditions, signs of an acute hyperperfusion in both the arterial and venous cerebral vascular systems were demonstrated in response to acute hypoxic stress; (2) Fetuses with an already established BSF showed no further ability of brain-sparing during acute hypoxic stress; (3) In venous cerebral vessels of fetuses with established BSF, the flow responses to hypoxic stress were equivocal, indicating different reactions in areas drained by different veins, or a deranged physiological vascular response; (4) Blood flow changes occurred synchronized in the middle and anterior cerebral arteries when fetuses with an intact cerebral circulation were exposed to hypoxic stress; (5) When fetuses with an established BSF showed no further changes in the middle cerebral artery, no changes were found in the anterior cerebral artery either.
