16. Extreme hemodilution: Effects of inhalation anesthetics, hypoxia, and blood loss. An Experimental study in pigs
Sammanfattning : Hemodilution reduces the need for blood transfusion and hereby the risk for transmission of infectious agents. The present study investigated effects on systemic and myocardial circulation and oxygenation, and blood lactate concentrations; induced by nitrous oxide, isoflurane, hypoxia, and uncompensated blood loss, in pigs hemodiluted to a hematocrit of 11%. 17. Hyperglycemia, nutrition and health outcomes in preterm infants
Sammanfattning : BackgroundSurvival among very low birth weight (VLBW) and extremely preterm (EPT) infants has increased markedly during the last decades. Neonatal hyperglycemia is common in these infants and is known to be associated with adverse outcomes. LÄS MER
18. Monitoring principles for haemodialysis
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with non-invasive monitoring techniques for haemodialysis. Three applications in particular have been investigated: Blood pressure measurements in the extra corporal circuit, the relationship between UV measurements and dialysate urea concentration and photoplethysmography (PPG) in haemodialysis patients. 19. Blood pressure in acute ischaemic stroke : blood pressure and stress in the acute phase of stroke and influence of initial blood pressure on stroke-outcome
Sammanfattning : Background and objectives: Most patients (70-80%) with acute ischaemic or haemorrhagic stroke exhibit a high systemic blood pressure (BP) on admission to hospital even in the absence of a history of hypertension (=50%). In matched-control patients admitted to hospital for other acute diseases the proportion of high BP is only 36%. LÄS MER
20. Blood pressure, blood pressure variability and myocardial ischemia : studies in patients with peripheral arterial disease and matched control subjects
Sammanfattning : Background: Patients presenting with peripheral arterial disease (PAD) often have concomitant coronary artery disease (CAD), which is frequently asymptomatic. Ambulatory blood pressure (ABP) monitoring improves risk stratification in hypertensive patients beyond that offered by office BP(OBP) measurements. LÄS MER
