11. Blind equalization using third-order moments
Sammanfattning : The use of third-order moments in blind linear equalization has been studied with emphasis on their performance in on-line methods of low complexity. Blind equalization has widespread use in areas such as digital communications, acoustics, geophysical exploration, image processing and general measurement problems. LÄS MER
12. Applied Methods for Blind Speech Enhancement
Sammanfattning : Acoustic disturbances influence human speech communication by interfering with the communication process. In the worst case, it is impossible to communicate at all due to these disturbances. Methods that reduce the influence of the disturbances while preserving speech intelligibility are often desired. 13. Retinal function in deaf-blind syndromes
Sammanfattning : A variety of disorders can cause retinal degeneration and hearing impairment, and it is of great value to have an early diagnosis since there is a large variation in phenotype and prognosis both within and between the different disorders. The general aim of this thesis was to characterize the retinal function, to describe the phenotype, and – where appropriate – to relate the phenotype to genotype in patients with combined visual and hearing impairment. 14. Adaptive blind deconvolution using third-order moments : exploiting asymmetry
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the use of third-order statistics in adaptive blind deconvolution of asymmetric impulsive signals. Traditional methods are typically based on fourthorder moments, which can discriminate signals with heavy-tailed probability functions (i.e. `spiky' signals) from corresponding filtered versions. 15. Kierkegaard och sociologins blinda fläck
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this dissertation is to discuss the scope as well as the limits of sociological theory. This project is undertaken with the help of Søren Kierkegaard and his unique interpretation of human existence. LÄS MER
