  1. 6. Aspects of physical activity in Rheumatoid Arthritis : associations with inflammation and cardiovascular risk factors

    Författare :Kristina Hörnberg; Solveig Wållberg Jonsson; Björn Sundström; Christina Helging Opava; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; physiotherapy; rheumatoid arthritis; cardiovascular disease; aerobic capacity; physical activity; exercise; primary prevention;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is associated with an increased risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD), partially attributable to systemic inflammation and traditional risk factors for CVD. Since physical activity (PA) is strongly related to CVD in the general population, the aim of this thesis was to describe aspects of PA in patients with RA, and further to analyse associations with disease activity, traditional risk factors for CVD and subclinical atherosclerosis. 2. 7. The Resting Electrocardiogram and Risk for Cardiovascular Disease : A Population-Based Study in Middle-Aged Men with up to 32 Years of Follow-Up

    Författare :Christina Ström Möller; Lars Lind; Björn Zethelius; Johan Sundström; Annika Rosengren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; electrocardiogram; risk factors; epidemiology; population-based studies; cardiovascular mortality; apolipoproteins; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD;

    Sammanfattning : The aim was to contribute to the optimal use of the resting ECG by exploring, in middle-aged and elderly men, the development and regression of ECG abnormalities; the prognostic value of the ECG for cardiovascular disease compared to conventional risk factors; and the impact of age at baseline and follow-up time for prediction of cardiovascular disease.It was based on the Uppsala Study of Adult Men cohort that was started in 1970.     Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; risk factor; stroke; TIA; lipoproteins; fatty acids; insulin resistance; proinsulin; clamp; cognitive function; epidemiology; Trail Making Test; stroke mortality; dependency; Geriatrics and medical gerontology; Geriatrik och medicinsk gerontologi; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : In the last decades our knowledge concerning cardiovascular risk factors has grown rapidly through results from longitudinal studies. However, despite new treatment, in Western countries coronary heart disease remains the leading cause of death and stroke is still the leading cause of severe disability. LÄS MER
