  1. 11. Hydrogen Production by Caldicellulosiruptor species: The Organism and the Metabolism

    Författare :Ahmad Zeidan; Teknisk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Extreme thermophile; Caldicellulosiruptor; Biohydrogen; Co-culture; Coexistence; Hydrogen tolerance; Genome-scale reconstruction; In silico; Flux balance analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Hydrogen holds a great promise as an efficient and clean future energy carrier due to its high energy density and lack of pollutant generation. Anaerobic degradation of organic substrates by heterotrophic microorganisms enables the production of hydrogen from a wide spectrum of agricultural feedstock and waste products. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Evaluation of process parameters and treatments of different raw materials for biogas production

    Författare :Malik Badshah; Bioteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Anaerobic digestion; biogas; lignocellulosics; inoculum to substrate ratio; feed composition; toxicity; furaldehydes; paper and pulp sludges.;

    Sammanfattning : The anaerobic digestion process results in the production of biogas from a large diversity of organic residues, which can be used as an alternate source of energy generation and for waste management. However, the biogas production technology is not exploited efficiently due to the characteristics of raw materials, poor methane yields, process instability, limited raw materials and lack of knowledge about the process. 3. 13. Vitreoscilla hemoglobin. In vitro mutagenesis and transcript profiling to improve its biotechnological usefulness

    Författare :Charlotte Andersson; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemical technology; Biokemisk teknik; gene expression analysis; transcript profiling; microarray; DNA chips; microaerobic; hypoxia; oxygen-limited; bacterial hemoglobin; Escherichia coli; Vitreoscilla hemoglobin VHb ;

    Sammanfattning : Vitreoscilla is an obligate aerobic bacterium found in oxygen-poor environments such as stagnant ponds and decaying vegetable matter. Vitreoscilla induces the production of a homodimeric hemoglobin (VHb) when subjected to oxygen-limiting conditions. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Production, Purification and Characterization of Antimicrobial Biomolecules from Potential Probiotic Lactic Acid Bacteria

    Författare :Sahar Deraz; Bioteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Lactobacillus; Bioteknik; Biotechnology; Livsmedelsteknik; Food and drink technology; bacteriocin purification.; inhibitory activity; Bacteriocin; antimicrobial protein;

    Sammanfattning : Development and optimization of the production of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) and their attendant 'natural' inhibitors as biopreservatives to control undesirable bacteria currently remains a primary focus of several laboratories involved in research concerning food safety and quality. Strategies utilized to study incorporation of biopreservatives into food include either direct use of LAB-strains or use of a biopreservative preparation in the form of previously fermented product or use of semipurified, purified, or chemically synthesized bacteriocins. 5. 15. Sampling, sample treatment, assay and real time monitoring of biotechnological processes using an integrated flow-injection system

    Författare :Mohammad Mazlomi; Bioteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bioprocess; Sampling; Sample treatment; On-line monitoring; Real time monitoring; Flow injection; Immunoassay; Fermentation;

    Sammanfattning : Microorganisms can be used for production of pharmaceutical substances. With the introduction of gene technology, it is possible to transfer information from one organism to the other, thereby making the receiving organism capable of producing substances that it did not so before. This development is very important for e.g. LÄS MER
