  1. 6. Upper middle Cambrian through Furongian of Scandinavia with focus on trilobites, paleoenvironments and correlations

    Författare :Fredrik Terfelt; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Paleontologi; Palaeontology; Scandinavia; Paleoenvironments; Biostratigraphy; Trilobites; Cambrian; Furongian;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on studies of upper middle Cambrian through Furongian strata in Scandinavia with focus on trilobite biostratigraphy, taxonomy, paleoecology, and intercontinental correlation. The material studied derives mainly from Västergötland and Scania, southern Sweden. LÄS MER

  2. 7. The Greenhouse - Icehouse Transition : a dinoflagellate perspective

    Författare :Caroline A. van Mourik; Henk Brinkhuis; Malgorzata Moczydlowska-Vidal; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Eocene - Oligocene; dinoflagellate cysts; biostratigraphy; paleoecology; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : Through the analysis of the stratigraphic and spatial distribution of organic walled dinoflagellate cysts (dinocysts) from climatologically and oceanographically key sites, this project aims to contribute to a better understanding of the Eocene-Oligocene (E/O) environmental changes and their timing. A central issue is to identify the global environmental changes which are responsible for the Eocene cooling and its underlying mechanisms with the focus on the Oligocene isotope-1 (Oi-1) event, thought to mark the onset of major Antarctic glaciation. 3. 8. Early land plant spores from the Paleozoic of Sweden – taxonomy, stratigraphy and paleoenvironments

    Författare :Kristina Mehlqvist; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Spores; early land plants; taxonomy; stratigraphy; biostratigraphy; Silurian;

    Sammanfattning : The Silurian through earliest Devonian, between ca 444 and 412 million years ago, was characterized by significant changes in global climate and environment. At that time, plants and animals had begun to expand the colonization of previous relatively desolate terrestrial landscape. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Palaeobiology and diversification of Proterozoic-Cambrian photosynthetic eukaryotes

    Författare :Heda Agić; Małgorzata Moczydłowska; Shuhai Xiao; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; microfossils; eukaryotes; Mesoproterozoic; Neoproterozoic; Cambrian; Ordovician; palaeobiology; biostratigraphy; phylogeny; China; Estonia; Siberian Platform; prasinophytes; microstructure; Raman spectroscopy; Earth Science with specialization in Historical Geology and Palaeontology; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot historisk geologi och paleontologi;

    Sammanfattning : One of the most important events in the history of life is the evolution of the complex, eukaryotic cell. The eukaryotes are complex organisms with membrane-bound intracellular structures, and they include a variety of both single-celled and multicellular organisms: plants, animals, fungi and various protists. 5. 10. Late Ordovician-Early Silurian facies development and stratigraphy of Jämtland, central Sweden

    Författare :Peter Dahlqvist; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biostratigraphy; Sedimentology; Stratigrafi; Stratigraphy; Paleontologi; Palaeontology; Jämtland; provenance; brachiopods; conodonts; Hirnantian; Silurian; Ordovician; glaciation; eustasy; Sedimentologi; sedimentology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on studies of Lower Palaeozoic sedimentary successions within the central Scandinavian Caledonides. These deposits have been transported by considerable nappe displacement (several kilometres), and are today relatively isolated from the nearest coeval outcrops (Dalarna 250 km, Oslo Region 350 km).
