Sammanfattning : Melanophores are dark brown pigment cells located in the skin of fish, amphibia, reptiles, and many invertebrates. The color of the animal can change via rearrangement of pigment granules, melanosomes, in the cells. Sammanfattning : Electrochemcial investigations were conducted for elucidating and understanding the relation between the various electron transfer processes occurring in cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) bound to an electrode surface. Substrate inhibition caused by cellobiose was proven to act in competition with the electron transfer to a two-electron acceptor and under a partial inhibition mechanism for the internal electron transfer process. Sammanfattning : The use of a surface plasmon biosensor fills a missing link in kinetic studies of enzymes, since it measures directly the interaction between biomolecules and allows determination of parameters that are determined only indirectly in activity assays. The present thesis deals with kinetic and dynamic aspects of ligand binding to two viral enzymes: the human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) protease and the human immunodeficiency virus type 1 reverse transcriptase (HIV-1 RT). Solid graphite and carbon paste electrodes were used as support for enzyme immobilisation.
