16. Flexible Synthesis of Rigid Cyclophanes - Synthesis and derivatisation of 2,7-diaza-1,2,3,6,7,8-hexahydropyrene into chiral macrocycles
Sammanfattning : Rigid, chiral and amphiphilic cyclophanes of potential use as biomimetic host molecules were prepared by cyclic dimerisation of chiral diamino building blocks with amino-reactive cross-linking reagents. A reliable synthesis of the scaffold 2,7-diaza-1,2,3,6,7,8-hexahydropyrene was developed. LÄS MER
17. Synthesis Towards Biologically Active Natural Products
Sammanfattning : In 2005 two research groups independently reported the isolation of a series of structurally intriguing C-19 terpenolides from the plants Thapsia transtagana and Thapsia garganica. The compounds were shown to be potent inhibitors of the sarco/endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+-ATPases. LÄS MER
18. Fundamental Aspects of Lignin Carbohydrate Complexes (LCC) : Mechanisms, Recalcitrance and Material concepts
Sammanfattning : Covalent bonds between lignin and carbohydrates, forming a matrix referred to as lignin carbohydrate complexes (LCC), remain one of the most controversial topics in wood chemistry. A key issue is whether they are formed during chemical and mechanical pretreatments of the compact wood structure or actually present in wood prior to isolation. LÄS MER
19. Advances in Stereoselective Palladium(ΙΙ)-Catalyzed Oxidative Transformations of Allenes
Sammanfattning : Palladium(ΙΙ)-catalyzed carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bond formation via selective C-H bond oxidation constitutes a step-economical and versatile approach towards complex target molecules. This thesis has been focused on the development of new selective palladium(ΙΙ)-catalyzed transformations of allenes under oxidative conditions catalyzed by either homogenous or heterogeneous palladium(ΙΙ) catalysts. 20. Transport Modes in Nanotube-Vesicle Networks
Sammanfattning : Methods for construction of surface-immobilized microscopic networks of phospholipid bilayer vesicles (3-50 µm in diameter) interconnected by lipid tubes (30-150 nm in radius), have previously been developed. The networks have controlled connectivity and are well-defined with regard to container size, content, angle between nanotube extensions, and nanotube length. LÄS MER
