  1. 1. Perspectives on future bioenergy use and trade in a European policy context

    Författare :Julia Hansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Sweden; bioenergy trade; EU; policy; bioenergy; co-generation; renewable electricity; biomass; co-firing; district heating; biofuels for transportation; gasification;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis, which consists of five separate papers, analyses the possibilities for increasing the use and trade of bioenergy, in a European policy context. In Paper I we investigate whether different policy objectives underlying the promotion of bioenergy (cost-effective climate change mitigation, reduced dependency on imported fuels, and job creation) agree on which bioenergy options should be used. 2. 2. Perspectives on bioenergy futures - International bioenergy trade and bioenergy expansion in a European policy context

    Författare :Julia Hansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Sweden; policy; CO2 credits; bioenergy trade; EU; biofuels; biofuels for transport; bioenergy; energy systems model; biomass; electricity;

    Sammanfattning : Biomass can be used to substitute the use of fossil fuels in the energy system. Presently, the use of biomass is being promoted in Sweden and the rest of the EU by targets and policies. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Prospects for Bioenergy in Europe - Supply, Demand and Trade

    Författare :Karin Ericsson; Miljö- och energisystem; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energiforskning; Energy research; biofuel trade; perennial energy crops; co-firing; bioenergy policy; biomass production cost; potential biomass supply; Bioenergy; Europe;

    Sammanfattning : Renewable energy sources (RES), such as biomass, can be used to address two important issues in Europe: climate change and energy security. If biomass is produced sustainably and used efficiently, bioenergy contributes very little to CO2 emissions. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Towards Sustainable Bioenergy - Governance, Resource potentials and Trade-offs

    Författare :Oskar Englund; Evelyne Thiffault; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; sustainability standards; trade-offs; Bioenergy; biodiversity; governance; biomass potentials; certification;

    Sammanfattning : The global energy system needs to be transformed from fossil dependent to renewable, to cope with the challenges of resource scarcity and climate change. Bioenergy can play an important role in this transformation, but land is scarce, and uncontrolled bioenergy expansion could have unacceptable consequences. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Modelling Climate Policy – Trade-Off Metrics, Resource Markets, and Uncertainty

    Författare :Daniel Johansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; OPEC; GWP; energy; uncertainty; biomass; climate change; oil; land use; greenhouse gases; Kyoto Protocol;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of five papers related to climate change policy. In paper I andpaper II we discuss the use of Global Warming Potentials (GWPs) that facilitate the tradeoffbetween abatement of the different greenhouse gases (GHGs). LÄS MER
