  1. 1. Multispectral Remote Sensing and Deep Learning for Wildfire Detection

    Författare :Xikun Hu; Yifang Ban; Ioannis Gitas; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; active fire detection; biome; multi-criteria; Sentinel-2; Landsat-8; burned area mapping; deep learning; semantic segmentation; machine learning.; aktiv branddetektering; biom; multikriterietillvägagångssätt; Sentinel-2; Landsat-8; kartläggning av bränt område; djupinlärning; semantisk segmentering; maskininlärningsmetoderna; Geoinformatik; Geoinformatics;

    Sammanfattning : Remote sensing data has great potential for wildfire detection and monitoring with enhanced spatial resolution and temporal coverage. Earth Observation satellites have been employed to systematically monitor fire activity over large regions in two ways: (i) to detect the location of actively burning spots (during the fire event), and (ii) to map the spatial extent of the burned scars (during or after the event). 4. 4. Acclimation of plants to combinations of abiotic factors : connecting the lab to the field

    Författare :Zsofia Réka Stangl; Vaughan Hurry; Lisa Ainsworth; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nitrogen; carbon dioxide; temperature; thermal acclimation; mycorrhiza; boreal forest; climate change; C:N balance; allocation; respiration; photosynthesis; terrestrial biosphere model;

    Sammanfattning : Increasing atmospheric CO2 and other greenhouse gasses coupled to the accelerated rate of global warming puts plants and ecosystems under the strain of a rapidly changing abiotic environment. Understanding the impacts of changing global climate is a strong focus of plant science and the establishment of more resilient crop variants is an important goal for breeding programs. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Modelling the terrestrial carbon cycle – drivers, benchmarks, and model-data fusion

    Författare :Zhendong Wu; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :Global carbon cycle; Ecosystem modeling; Uncertainty; LPJ-GUESS; Traceability Framework; Model-data fusion; Climate data;

    Sammanfattning : The terrestrial ecosystem sequesters about one-third of anthropogenic emissions each year, thereby providing a critical ecosystem service that slows the rate of increase of atmospheric carbon dioxide and helps mitigate climate change. Observed atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations exhibit a large inter-annual variability which is considered to be caused primarily by the response of the terrestrial ecosystem to climate change and anthropogenic activity.
