1. Characteristics of wood plastic composites based on modified wood : Moisture properties, biological performance and micromorphology
Sammanfattning : Biobased materials made from renewable resources, such as wood, play an important role in the sustainable development of society. One main challenge of biobased building materials is their inherent moisture sensitivity, a major cause for fungal decay, mold growth and dimensional instability, resulting in decreased service life as well as costly maintenance. 2. High-Performance Composites from Modified Wood Fiber
Sammanfattning : The objective of this work was to produce and evaluate high-performance wood fiber composites. High-performance was defined as: high dimensional stability and a high durability, including resistance to wood-decaying organisms (fungi, bacteria, and insects). LÄS MER
3. Population structure and pathogenicity evolution of Phytophthora infestans affects epidemiology and management of late blight disease
Sammanfattning : Sound management of late blight, the disease caused by the notorious oomycete pathogen Phytophthora infestans (Mont.) de Bary, is dependent on the pathogen’s population biology. However, for P. LÄS MER
4. Microbial degradation of wooden foundation piles in urban context – causes and concerns
Sammanfattning : Modern infrastructural projects can endanger historical piled foundations supporting cultural heritage buildings, as groundwork can affect the subsurface environment by lowering the local groundwater level and increasing oxygenation in the soil. Wooden foundation piles are thereby placed at risk, as the durability of buried wood material is dependent on a stable, waterlogged, and anoxic environment. LÄS MER
5. Novel bioinspired and biohybrid electrode materials for hydrogen production
Sammanfattning : This thesis was accomplished under the scope of eSCALED project administrated by EU MSCA horizon 2020 program, which aimed to develop a device called “artificial leaf” responsible for generating fuels or liquid chemicals (H2 production or CO2 reduction) using solar electrolysis. My objective was to develop a noble metal free, efficient cathode materials for H2 production for the device which yield this thesis. LÄS MER
