11. Unravelling Sensitisation and Quenching Pathways in Lanthanide Luminophores
Sammanfattning : Lanthanide (Ln) ions find use in cellular detection and probing of many analytes, owing to their unique photophysical properties. However, to make the Ln emission efficient, one has to develop a light-harvesting antenna, which is an organic chromophore that absorbs and transfers energy to the Ln. LÄS MER
12. Functional Cyclic Carbonate Monomers and Polycarbonates : Synthesis and Biomaterials Applications
Sammanfattning : The present work describes a selection of strategies for the synthesis of functional aliphatic polycarbonates. Using an end-group functionalization strategy, a series of DNA-binding cationic poly(trimethylene carbonate)s was synthesized for application as vectors for non-viral gene delivery. LÄS MER
13. Tailoring Fluorescent Probes for Organelle-Specific Imaging and Sensing
Sammanfattning : Exploring and visualizing biological and pathological processes in living cells are useful for both fundamental research and applications. An understanding on the molecular level for these processes with focus on tracking biomarkers, collecting information about their surroundings, and uncovering essential molecular pathways and functions in live cells are of vital interest for cell biological study and clinical diagnosis application. 14. Extracellular Matrix Based Materials for Tissue Engineering
Sammanfattning : The extracellular matrix is (ECM) is a network of large, structural proteins and polysaccharides, important for cellular behavior, tissue development and maintenance. Present thesis describes work exploring ECM as scaffolds for tissue engineering by manipulating cells cultured in vitro or by influencing ECM expression in vivo. LÄS MER
15. Novel bioinspired and biohybrid electrode materials for hydrogen production
Sammanfattning : This thesis was accomplished under the scope of eSCALED project administrated by EU MSCA horizon 2020 program, which aimed to develop a device called “artificial leaf” responsible for generating fuels or liquid chemicals (H2 production or CO2 reduction) using solar electrolysis. My objective was to develop a noble metal free, efficient cathode materials for H2 production for the device which yield this thesis. LÄS MER
