11. Artificial receptors: New opportunities for the exploitation of molecularly imprinted polymers
Sammanfattning : Molecular imprinting, method for creating artificial receptors that are mimics of biological antibodies and receptors, is based on the concept of creating substrate-specific recognition sites in polymeric matrices by means of template polymerisation. The polymeric receptors produced display favourable binding characteristics, such as high affinity and specificity towards the substrate molecules. LÄS MER
12. Conjugated Polymers, Amyloid Detection and Assembly of Biomolecular Nanowires
Sammanfattning : The research field of conjugated polymers has grown due to the optical and electronic properties of the material, useful in applications such as solar cells and printed electronics, but also in biosensors and for interactions with biomolecules. In this thesis conjugated polymers have been used in two related topics; to detect conformational changes in proteins and to assemble the polymers with biomolecules into nanowires. LÄS MER
13. Cu(I) stabilizing polymers for marine anti-fouling applications
Sammanfattning : The growth of marine organisms on immersed surfaces in seawater is known as biofouling and causes several problems for marine transportation. The need to combat fouling is thus of great importance. Copper has to be used in extreme amounts to act as an efficient biocide. LÄS MER
14. Tailoring of Biomaterials using Ionic Interactions : Synthesis, Characterization and Application
Sammanfattning : The interactions between polymers and components of biological systems are an important area of interest within the fields of tissue engineering, polymer chemistry, medicine and biomaterials. In order to create such a biomimetic material, it must show the inherent ability to reproduce or elicit a biological function. LÄS MER
15. Fabrication of Functional Molecularly Imprinted Materials using Nanoparticle Building Blocks
Sammanfattning : Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) have attracted great interest in many applications including bioseparation, chemical sensing, catalysis, drug delivery, etc. Recently, molecularly imprinted nanoparticles have become accessible due to a number of synthetic methods that have been developed.
