16. Process Industry Energy Projects in a Climate Change Conscious Economy
Sammanfattning : Most industrial process plants consume large amounts of energy (usually in the form of steam and electricity) to produce demanded goods, such as beer or paper. However, combustion of fossil fuels has negative external effects on the Earths climate. LÄS MER
17. Sustainable production of bio-energy products in the sawmill industry
Sammanfattning : One of the great challenges facing society is to convert theglobal energy system to a sustainable process. Currently, 80%of the world´s energy is supplied through the combustionof fossil fuels. Not only are the fossil resources limited, theutilisation also increases the level of greenhouse gases in theatmosphere. LÄS MER
18. Rational bioenergy utilisation in energy systems and impacts on CO2emissions
Sammanfattning : The increased concentration of greenhouse gases in theatmosphere, in particular CO2, is changing the Earths climate. Accordingto the Kyoto protocol, where the international community agreedon binding emission targets, developed countries are committedto reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. LÄS MER
19. The Economics of Biofuel Development : Policy Incentives and Market Impacts
Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the economics of biofuel development by studying the forest raw material market impacts of increased biofuel production, as well as the role of specific policy incentives. Paper [I] presents an economic assessment of two different developments – both implying an increased demand for forest ecosystem services – and how these could affect the competition for forest raw materials. 20. Characterisation of organic materials from incineration residues
Sammanfattning : The organic material present in incineration residues has been examined. Water leachable organic material was characterised and classified into hydrophilic and hydrophobic acids, neutrals and bases. Changes of the organic material during weathering were followed. LÄS MER
