  1. 1. Biological growth on mineral façades

    Författare :Sanne Johansson; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; moisture transport; mortar; mosses; biodeterioration; lichens; moulds; mineral facades; building physics; thin rendering on thermal insulation; heat transfer; biological growth; algae; heat capacity;

    Sammanfattning : During the last years there has been reported considerable and rapid contamination on newly built rendered façades in Sweden due to biological growth. The problem is believed to occur mostly on façades of render applied on thermal insulation, but apart from this it is difficult to find clear relationships indication which façades might be infected. 2. 2. Effectiveness and Evaluation of Wood Protection against Biological Deterioration Caused by Filamentous Fungi

    Författare :Olena Myronycheva; Olov Karlsson; Lone Ross; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Träteknik; Wood Science and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Developing a holistic understanding of the biological deterioration of wooden material by fungi in the laboratory and outdoor conditions requires the development of new assessment procedures and tools that allow describing the process with maximum precision and accuracy. Environmental biodeterioration is a complex process including a combination of physical, chemical and biological changes, with many uncertainties limiting the predictability and effectiveness of selected preservatives after laboratory tests. 3. 3. Characterisation of thermally modified wood for use as component in biobased building materials

    Författare :Susanna Källbom; Magnus Wålinder; Dennis Jones; Kristiina Lillqvist; Kristoffer Segerholm; Marko Petrič; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Thermally modified wood TMW components; surface properties; inverse gas chromatography IGC ; water sorption; dynamic vapour sorption DVS ; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Byggvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The building sector shows growing interest in biobased building materials. Wood components, here defined as ground or milled wood, i.e. by-products (residuals/residues) from wood processing, such as sawdust or shavings, are valuable raw materials for new types of durable biocomposites suitable for outdoor building applications.
