1. Treatment of Wastewater Generated by Wood-based Dry Industries : Advances Oxidation Processes & Electrocoagulation
Sammanfattning : Wood is a material with an enormous number of applications. For decades, the development of wastewater treatment technologies tailored for the wood sector has focused on those industries that have water as an integral part of the industrial production, such as paper and pulp. 2. Degradation of organic matter in wastewater -Enhanced denitrification and removal of refractory organics
Sammanfattning : Degradation of organic matter takes place in many processes within a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). The need for optimisations and extended degradation processes for both organics and nitrogen will increase as outlet demands are strengthened and increasing loads are desired. LÄS MER
3. Prioritization of phytotoxins according to their threat to water quality
Sammanfattning : Natural toxins are pollutants of emerging concern. Despite being ubiquitous in the European environment, thus far little action has been taken to conduct screening-level assessment of their presence in drinking water. LÄS MER
4. Renewable Energy and Nutrient Valorization from Anaerobic Digestion : Resource-Efficient Solutions
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a comprehensive analysis aimed at understanding process performance, methane yield, and key influencing factors within the context of solid-state anaerobic digestion (SS-AD). SS-AD is used to treat organic material with high solids content, which can be challenging to address by alternative methods. LÄS MER
5. Poly (3-hydroxybutyrate) from a moderate halophile: production and modification for new applications
Sammanfattning : Polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) is a homopolymer belonging to the family of biopolyesters, polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) produced by different bacteria and archaea as intracellular granules often under conditions of metabolic stress due to a limited supply of essential nutrients. The properties of the PHAs are similar to those of polyethylene and polypropylene and can hence replace these fossil based polymers in a large variety of applications. LÄS MER
