  1. 21. Root surface conditioning in periodontal treatment

    Författare :Johan Blomlöf; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :citric acid; collagen; EDTL; etching; monkey; periodontal healing; periodolntitis; phosphoric acid; root planing; scanning electron microscopy; smearlayer; ultrasonic scaling; vitality. ISBN: 91-628-2646-8;

    Sammanfattning : Marginal periodontal healing following both invasive and non-invasive therapies is influenced by a large number of systemic and local factors. In order to optimize healing, a lot of effort is put into minimizing possible sources of infection both in performing different periodontal therapies as well as during the healing period. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Dried nanofibrillated cellulose and its bionanocomposites

    Författare :Christian Eyholzer; Olli Ikkala; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Trä och bionanokompositer; Wood and Bionanocomposites;

    Sammanfattning : During the past decade there has been a growing interest in the reinforcement of synthetic polymers with cellulose nanowhiskers and nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) obtained from plants or bacteria. Their beneficial mechanical properties like high stiffness and strength, in combination with their low mass allowed successful reinforcement of water based polymer dispersions (latexes) for the production of solution cast composite films. 3. 23. Synthesis of Orthogonally Functionalized Oligosaccharides for Self-assembled Monolayers and as Multimodal Tools in Chemical Biology

    Författare :Timmy Fyrner; Peter Konradsson; Stefan Svensson; Bo Liedberg; Ulf Ellervik; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Oligosaccharide synthesis; glycosylation; thioglycosides; orthogonally protected; oligo lactosides ; spacer molecule; heterobifunctional; surface plasmon resonance; lipid anchor; self-assembled monolayers; glyconanoparticles;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis covers different topics in the field of synthetic organic chemistry combined with the field of surface science and glycobiology.First, the text presents a series of orthogonally protected oligosaccharides (tri-, penta-, and heptasaccharides) of varying length and structures, which are synthesized with the aim of developing novel heterobifunctional biocompatible cross-linkers. 4. 24. Neuroprotection in the Injured Spinal Cord : Novel Strategies using Immunomodulation, Stem cell Transplantation and Hyaluronic acid Hydrogel carriers

    Författare :Nikos Schizas; Nils Hailer; Elena Kozlova; Mikael Svensson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Hyaluronic Acid-based hydrogel; motorneurons; microglial cells; Interleukin-1 Receptor Antagonist; Renshaw cells; excitotoxicity; neuroinflammation; Neural Crest Stem Cells; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to establish strategies to minimize secondary damage to the injured spinal cord. Secondary damage that follows spinal cord injury (SCI) involves inflammatory and excitotoxic pathways. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Asymmetrical Flow Field-Flow Fractionation and Multiangle Light Scattering for Molar Mass Analysis of Polysaccharide Derivatives

    Författare :Mats Andersson; Industriell Produktion; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; polysaccharide derivatives ethylhydroxyethyl cellulose; molar mass analysis; asymmetrical flow field-flow fractionation; multiangle light scattering; polymer size distribution; Polymer technology; biopolymers; Polymerteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Molar mass and molar mass distribution of polymers are parameters of fundamental importance as they influence the performance of the polymer in applications. Polysaccharide derivatives are a class of polymers that have attracted significant scientific and commercial interest as they can be manufactured from a wide range of abundant sources in nature and thereby often are both cheap and biocompatible.
