  1. 1. Biochemical and genetic markers after subarachnoid haemorrhage

    Författare :Ludvig Z Csajbok; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; subarachnoid haemorrhage; biochemical marker; genetic marker; outcome;

    Sammanfattning : ABSTRACT Background: Subarachnoid haemorrhage is a devastating disease with high morbidity and mortality despite novel treatment options are available. There are no established methods to measure the brain damage occurring due to the bleed and its complications and to predict early neurological outcome of the disease. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Milk Fat Intake and Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) Supplementation : Dietary Markers and Associations to Clinical and Biochemical Characteristics

    Författare :Annika Smedman; Samar Basu; Bengt Vessby; Jan I Pedersen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Nutrition; Pentadecanoic acid 15:0 ; milk products; milk fat; dietary marker; coronary heart disease; anthropometric variables; conjugated linoleic acid CLA ; lipid peroxidation; inflammation; F2 isoprostane; prostaglandin F2; human; Näringslära; Nutrition; Näringslära;

    Sammanfattning : In the present thesis dietary markers for intake of milk fat, associations between intake of milk fat and risk factors for coronary heart disease (CHD), and the effects of supplementation with conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) to healthy humans are investigated.The dietary fat quality is one of the main lifestyle factors affecting risk for CHD. 3. 3. Detection and outcome of mild traumatic brain injury in patients and sportsmen : persisting symptoms, disabilities and life satisfaction in relation to S-100B, NSE and cortisol

    Författare :Britt-Marie Stålnacke; Peter Sojka; Jörgen Borg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; traumatic brain injury; brain concussion; biochemical marker; S100 proteins; cortisol; post concussion symptoms; stress disorder posttraumatic; life satisfaction; sport; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin; rehabiliteringsmedicin; Rehabilitation Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Traumatic brain injuries are common (hospitalization incidence: 250-300 per 100.000 inhabitants/year) and a great majority of these injuries (80-85%) are classified as mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI/concussion). Many patients with MTBI (20-80%) suffer from subsequent persistent and often disabling symptoms. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Endothelin-1-immunoreactive protein and neuroendocrine differentiation and nerve supply in human non-neoplastic and neoplastic adrenal cortex : Immunohistochemical, ultrastructural, and biochemical findings

    Författare :Qing Li; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; adrenal cortex; human; endothelin-related protein; innervation; neuroendocrinedifferentiation; immunohistochemistry; electron microscopy; biochemistry; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Pathology; patologi;

    Sammanfattning : The occurrence and distribution of endothelin (ET)-1-immunoreactive (ir) protein, neuro-endocrine markers and neurohormonal peptides in endocrine cells and nerves in human non-neoplastic and neoplastic adrenal cortex are described.ET-1-ir cell groups were regularly seen in human adrenal cortex, mainly in zona fasciculata, but not in the medulla. 5. 5. Leptin : a risk marker for cardiovascular disease

    Författare :Stefan Söderberg; Ulf de Faire; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; leptin; testosterone; dysfibrinolysis; hyperinsulinemia; insulin resistance syndrome; menopause; cardiovascular disease; MONICA; epidemiology;

    Sammanfattning : A major cause of morbidity and early death in the Western societies is cardiovascular disease (CVD) secondary to atherosclerotic disease. Metabolic aberrations have been linked to CVD. LÄS MER
