    Författare :Sofia Reyier; Per Engstrand; Hans Höglund; Olof Ferritsius; Hans Ersson; Rita Ferritsius; Philip Reme; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fiber; mechanical pulp; bonding ability; fiber characterization; Bonding Indicator; BIN; acoustic emission; hydrocyclone; Fiberlab; collapse resistance; fibrillation; Fiber; mekanisk massa; bindningsförmåga; fiber karakterisering; Bindnings Indikator; BIN; akustisk emission; hydrocyklon; Fiberlab; kollaps resistans; fibrillering; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a method of measuring the distribution of fiber bonding ability in mechanical pulp furnishes. The method is intended for industrial use, where today only average values are used to describe fiber bonding ability, despite the differences in morphology of the fibers entering the mill. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Studies of the role of complement factor H in hemolytic uremic syndrome

    Författare :Fariba Vaziri Sani; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pediatri; Pediatrics; Hemolytic uremic syndrome; complement system; factor H;

    Sammanfattning : Factor H is the main fluid phase regulator of the alternative pathway of complement. Factor H acts as a co-factor for factor I-mediated C3b degradation, inhibits the formation of the C3bBb convertase and accelerates its decay. By discriminating between host and foreign cells, factor H inhibits complement-mediated injury to host cells. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Hemicellulose-based wood adhesives

    Författare :Tijana Todorovic; Eva Malmström; Linda Fogelström; Francisco Vilaplana; Magdalena Sterley; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Sammanfattning : The increasing sustainability concern encourages the society to use sustainable resources. In the wood industry the main component is from a renewable resource, but others are not. One of the fossil-based components is the adhesive. LÄS MER

  4. 4. On the adsorption behaviour of saliva and purified salivary proteins at solid/liquid interfaces

    Författare :Liselott Lindh; Malmö högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; acidic proline-rich proteins; adsorption; BSM; diffusion; ellipsometry; interfaces; mass transport limitation; mucins; MUC5B; saliva; salivary proteins; statherin; surface properties;

    Sammanfattning : Den salivfilm som bildas genom selektiv proteinadsorption på ytor i munhålan har stor profylaktisk betydelse genom sin skyddande funktion och befrämjar därigenom oral hälsa. Några av de adsorberade komponenterna har smörjande funktion (t ex muciner, sura prolinrika proteiner (PRP) och statherin), som är viktig bl a för att förhindra slitage mellan tandytor vid tuggning och hos gnisslare. 5. 5. Penicillin-Nonsusceptible Streptococcus pneumoniae in Malmö, Sweden. Aspects of Epidemiology, Microbiology and Genetics

    Författare :Percy Nilsson Wimar; Preventiv pediatrik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Day-care centers; Streptococcus pneumoniae; Penicillin-nonsusceptible; Medicin människa och djur ;

    Sammanfattning : S. pneumoniae is a major cause of common diseases such as acute otitis media and pneumonia, as well as more serious illnesses like septicemia and meningitis. The increasing level of resistance in pneumococci threatens to change the tradition of treating common respiratory infections with narrow-spectrum penicillin. LÄS MER
