  1. 1. Fluids, Gels and Crystals : Phase behavior of binary thermoresponsive microgel mixtures

    Författare :Jasper Immink; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; colloidal phase behavior; microgel; binary mixture; colloidal gel; sequential gelation; patchy particle; binary crystal; crystal-to-crystal transition;

    Sammanfattning : Thermoresponsive colloidal microgels expel solvent from their interior upon crossing a threshold temperature, resulting in a significantly reduced size. The collapse of microgels can reversibly switch the interparticle interactions from soft repulsive to attractive, and the accompanying size reduction allows for precise control over volume fraction. 2. 2. The Effective Convectivity Model for Simulation and Analysis of Melt Pool Heat Transfer in a Light Water Reactor Pressure Vessel Lower Head

    Författare :Chi Thanh Tran; Tomas Lefvert; Harri Tuomisto; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; light water reactor; hypothetical severe accident; accident progression; accident scenario; core melt pool; heat transfer; turbulent natural convection; heat transfer coefficient; phase change; mushy zone; crust; lower plenum; analytical model; effective convectivity model; CFD simulation; Thermal energy engineering; Termisk energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Severe accidents in a Light Water Reactor (LWR) have been a subject of intense research for the last three decades. The research in this area aims to reach understanding of the inherent physical phenomena and reduce the uncertainties in their quantification, with the ultimate goal of developing models that can be applied to safety analysis of nuclear reactors, and to evaluation of the proposed accident management schemes for mitigating the consequences of severe accidents. 3. 3. Modelling of Granular Materials

    Författare :Aylin Ahadi; Mekanik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; hydraulic engineering; Civil engineering; materialteknik; Materiallära; Material technology; binary mixture model; simulations; material modelling; finite element; granular materials; offshore technology; soil mechanics; Väg- och vattenbyggnadsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this doctoral study is to develop and implement a material model for granular materials. The course of this work was concentrated upon a non-associated plasticity model with yield surface and the flow potential expressed in terms of the mean stress p and the third stress invariants I3. 4. 4. Development of in silico methods to aid chemical risk assessment : focusing on kinetic interactions in mixtures

    Författare :Elena Golosovskaia; Patrik L. Andersson; Stefan Örn; Patrik Rydén; Ester Papa; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; QSAR; physiologically based kinetic; PBK; zebrafish; ADME; mixture; bisphenols; PFAS; toxicokinetics; environmental science; miljövetenskap; Toxicology; toxikologi;

    Sammanfattning : The environment and biota are constantly exposed to numerous chemicals through contaminated food, soil, water, and air. These chemicals can be taken up and distributed to reach sensitive tissues where they may cause various effects. Many of these chemicals lack data on their environmental and human health effects. 5. 5. Statistical Segmentation and Registration of Medical Ultrasound Data

    Författare :Mattias Hansson; Matematik LTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Registration; Segmentation; Feature descriptor; Statistical image and signal processing; Medical ultrasound; Variational methods; Mixture model; Bayesian; Markov Chain Monte Carlo; Similarity measur;

    Sammanfattning : The interpretation of ultrasonic imagery is typically not straightforward and of quite subjective nature and therefore strongly dependent on the expertise of its users. Thus the development of algorithms which aid in the interpretation of ultrasonic data is a highly relevant topic. LÄS MER
