16. Nonionic Microemulsions: Dependence on Oil Chain Length of the Surfactant Curvature Elastic Properties
Sammanfattning : The aim with this thesis has been to increase the knowledge about nonionic microemulsions and how they behave with increasing temperature. I have studied Nonionic Microemulsions made from C12E5, water and oil, with predominally hexadecane as oil, but also with octane, decane, dodecane and tetradecane as oil. LÄS MER
17. Interpretation of diagnostic information given patient characteristics
Sammanfattning : The aim with this thesis was to describe, exemplify and develop theory for reference values and diagnostic tests, especially focusing on the variability between individuals. To facilitate interpretation of medical information it is common to establish some kind of limit. There are several different rationales for the choice of such a limit. LÄS MER
18. Computer Simulations of Polymer Gels : Structure, Dynamics, and Deformation
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the results of computer simulation studies of the structure, dynamics, and deformation of cross-linked polymer gels. Obtaining a fundamental understanding of the interrelation between the detailed structure and the properties of polymer gels is a challenge and a key issue towards designing materials for specific purposes. 19. Sensory integration : success & failure
Sammanfattning : The convergence of sensory signals plays an important role in perception. Two cases of convergence are examined in this thesis by means of modelling; the case when the converging signals are congruent, which leads to combination and an enhancement of perception, and the case when they are incongruent. 20. Host-seeking activity of Ixodes ricinus in relation to the epidemiology of Lyme borreliosis in Sweden
Sammanfattning : This thesis examines seasonal, diel and vertical distribution patterns of activity of host-seeking Ixodes ricinus (L.) ticks at three localities in south-central Sweden. In addition, by examining the prevalence of infection in ticks with Lyme borreliosis (LB) spirochetes, Borrelia burgdorferi s. LÄS MER
