1. Lipid based formulations for topical application: characterization and delivery of active substances
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, the interaction between lipids, solvents and active substances in lipid based formulations have been studied and related to formulation structure or release behavior on human skin or a model thereof. For the different investigations, isotropic equilibrium lipid phases, i.e. LÄS MER
2. PEG and lipids in solid dispersions and liquid crystals - structure and phase behaviour
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, two different kinds of nano-structured systems have been studied; solid dispersion systems of polyethylene glycol (PEG) and liquid crystalline systems containing the polar lipids monoolein (MO) and phytantriol (PT). Solid dispersions of PEG were studied with addition of different substances, lipids or parabens. LÄS MER
3. NMR Diffusion Studies of Association in Surfactant Systems Inclusion Complexes, Micellar Solutions and Microemulsions
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis has been to investigate self-diffusion behavior of host-guest complex, microemulsion and polymer solution. Pulsed Field Gradient NMR (PFG-NMR) was shown to provide detailed molecular information in all system studied. LÄS MER
4. ALA and m-ALA in bicontinuous lipid formulations: -Characterization and Transdermal Delivery
Sammanfattning : δ-Aminolevulinic acid (ALA) and its methyl ester (m-ALA) are both used in photodynamic therapy (PDT) of certain non melanoma skin cancers as the basal cell carcinoma (BCC). In PDT the cancer cells are destroyed by a photochemical reaction that occurs when a photosensitive molecule is irradiated with light of a certain wavelength. LÄS MER
5. Simulation of Relaxation Processes in Fluorescence, EPR and NMR Spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : Relaxation models are developed using numerical solutions of the Stochastic Liouville Equation of motion. Simplified descriptions such as the stochastic master equation is described in the context of fluorescence depolarisation experiments. Redfield theory is used in order to describe NMR relaxation in bicontinuous phases. LÄS MER
